NYG Draft History/Ranking

This is kind of the point most of us are getting at. Players you draft rounds 1 thru 3 should be contributing in year 1. When they don't, how can that draft be considered successful?

Schmalzel, this is probably the quote of the year! You are DEAD ON with this opinion.

While I feel JPP is a beast, we aren't in a position to exactly wait and see here. We need impact sooner then later. And I agree Coughlin doesn't start rookies, he changed his approach when need be to win in 2007, I feel he will have too this year or it will be the same thing, win or else and I think he will adjust. I hope he does, he has brought a winning attitude to our team and I feel that if he just adjusts a little more, and we rid ourselves of Gilbride and Fewell all will be well... :) lol

They allowed him 3 seasons of total failure/collapses after the first SB to come back for a 4th. You really think it's win or else in year 2 after winning a 2nd SB? We are stuck with Coach Collapse and his baffoonery until he retires unfortunately. Mara doesn't even have enough sac to get rid of Perry Fool for Christ sake.

Not trying to be a D or anything but expectations around draft picks may be a little high on this thread. The reality is only 30% of players drafted in the 3rd round or later ever make a contribution in the league. Less than 20 % of all 1st round picks make a pro bowl. It happens obviously, but for every Doug Martin there are two Jamarcus Russell's. Those are just the facts.

I think he is safe, but the others aren't.... and him not getting fired is a bad thing? As you said we won 2 Super Bowls with him.. .I'd take that any day. Any coach that wins 2 Super Bowl gets a pass, his cooridinators unless they do an amazing job, I don't think so. Reese as well, Coughlin brought in the attitude adjustment we needed, Mara was still around, Reese hasn't been absolutely horrible, but he hasn't lived up t his first draft class wonders lately either... I'd take Coughlin over a lot of these guys, but we do need Spags, and another offensive coordinator, and having a guy like Spags is good to be a coach in waiting...

Let's keep in mind here that Spagnuolo was the DC for that 2007 SB win, and Fool wasn't here until right after the Bill Sheridan fiasco, the year before they won the 2011 SB. I've never liked this Tampa 2/Cover 2 bullschit.....Spags knew how to utilize the players he had, and he wasn't afraid to blitz and brilliantly disguise blitzes...it worked.....Fool's thing worked near the END of the 2011 season, and barely worked at all in the 2012 season....so for Tampa-2/Cover-2, how in the hell can you "cover" ANYTHING with the atrocious secondary the Giants have had lately? This year, don't draft a "project"....draft a "success story".

uess I was wrong. The Giants are ranked statistically as one of the worst drafting teams over the last 5 years. I really didn't think that it would be that bad but looking at some of the names on this list is atrocious
Prinz, I have been saying this for months now, the drafts seem to be getting worse and worse. Besides for the first round picks, which every team pretty much hits on, they draft injury prone players or busts.
