Boo beat me to it. And echoing SSB

EJ is a great kid and ambassador for KU basketball but it's time.

It's time to shake things up.  Its time to get White or Adams in there for some real mins in heated conf play.  Maybe start Tharpe at PG and shart White at SG.

You just can't have a starter (any of the positions) consisently shoot this poorly and continue to start.  We don't want to wait til the conf season is almost over and then decide its time to make a change...do it now and let's figure out what combination of starters offers the best team performance.

That's It!  We lose in AFH for the first time in Ages...darn...and we fought bakk tough...but in the end, the timely play of the OSU bakkcourt was too much to handle.

If someone told me that EJ was implicated in a point shaving scandal I wouldn't be at all surprised. I have never seen a guy with so much talent and so much experience be so brainless. Those two ridiculous passes he threw on consecutive possessions when KU had a lead were the most shamelessly boneheaded passes I have seen in a long time. He is killing this team right now.

Great game for Okie State. They hit a lot of tough shots and simply fought harder than Kansas. KU will have to take a long hard look in the mirror after this one. More lazy passes, more missed free throws and a terrible effort on defense. They were also completely outhustled on the boards in the 2nd half, allowing a zillion 2nd chance looks for Okie State.

Onward...

Either we are getting worse or everyone else is getting better. (Or both) I don't see us winning the the B12 with the road games left.

The Big12 is still ours to lose but we are in a real rut right now.   And mesage to redrage or anyone else... come defend Elijah Johnson now.   I love the kid's character.  He loves Kansas and therefore I appreciate him but his play is hurting us so bad.   I cant remember an individual player having this much of a negative impact.

You're not an idiot or a bad fan. This team has been winning but not playing well for the last few weeks. I think they needed to lose a game to let them know that there are consequenses to all of the turnovers and mistakes they have been making. The real question is can they learn from this and improve, or are they just not an elite team. As a fan I hope they will use this loss to learn and that it will motive them to execute better. Too bad it was a home loss, guess we'll have to start a new streak.

....not much to say. I really thought KU would go undefeated at home! At least Young made some free-throws for a change. I love EJ but this is beyond disappointing, I also really thought he would leave a strong legacy here at Kansas, but he will leave as one of the bigger disappointments we've had (assuming he doesn't surprise us all and turn into the MOP of the tourney or something crazy). I'm glad White got a few good minutes and looked good, that might come in handy later on. Anyways Jayhawk nation, it was a tough loss at home and leaves an even bigger question mark on us going forward. Let's home we win at least 2 of the 4 "hard" road tests we have left so that we will have a shot to salvage a #1 seed.

This was long overdue.  However, there was something more permanently troubling with today's game than just a loss.  Team's have been "slowing it down" against KU all season thinking that was the way to beat them.  They couldn't be more wrong.  This KU team is gonna struggle to score 80.

The most disappointing part about this loss was the effort on the defensive glass.  The blueprint on how to beat this KU team was just put out there today.  Pull Withey away from the basket and KU looks like a high school team trying to rebound against a pro team.  Awful effort on the defensive glass today.  Awful.

I still see this team as a top 15 team worthy of a 2 or 3 seed.  But they are gonna be ripe for an early upset in the tourney if they play against an up tempo team in the early rounds.

Jim Harbaugh replaced Alex Smith with Kaepernick, guttsy move that proved correct. Maybe EJ just isn't a point guard. Is it time to switch to Tarpe and bring EJ off the bench? The defense will suffer but it might be the right move. By the way I'm not overreacting to one loss. As I stated in an earlier post this team has been playing poorly but winning for a while. Any thoughts?

To be fair the blueprint of pulling Withey away from the basket was really laid out by Missouri and their stretch 4 Kimmie English.   It is easier said than done though because all we have to do today or any other is block out.  As we saw today you dont have to be 6'10 to rebound the ball.  Nobody was putting a body on PG Marcus Smart coming from the weakside and it really was the difference in the game.   This team hasn't blocked out well all year.

Looking back not to long ago KU played great and with EJ. Twocoach, you said what I was thinking. Did someone pay EJ to shave points. I'm sure that's not the case but this is the worst performance I've seen in a long time by a single player at KU. ( T.Tayler came close a few times.) We know they have the talent and experience but something is definitely wrong. I just hope they get it together and soon.

Well Harbaugh stuck with Kaepernick after he was so good filling in for an injured Alex Smith.  There is a slight difference but your point remains, change is needed.  I still thinkg Elijah can be really effective playing off the ball but he is totally lost running the point and it has zapped his confidence as a shooter.

I've been saying all season, our rebounding was terrible...outside of a couple games, like Oklahoma...glad to see someone else noticed the trend would lead to our downfall...in this game anyway...I think we'll be fine...and I'm not taking EJ out of the starting 5 if I'm the HC...move him to the 2...but he starts.

Although I can understand counter-argument that would note our rebounding already is suffering, and removing Young might tip the scales.

Self usually makes good changes to the defensive scheme during the games, but I thought today he should have gone to the zone in the second half. At least give it a shot for a bit.  OSU owned the boards.

The best rebounder on this team is Ellis.  But it doesn't look like his lack of playing time is gonna change.

And it is defiinitely time to let EJ ride the bench for a while. That was flat out awful down the stretch...

Exactly...and like I said, I would understand the arguments against it, since our rebounding has been a weakness just about all season (I have been one of the loudest critics of it this season!)...but EJ is a weapon on arguably both ends...Young just on Defense, in most scenarios.
