All the stars are lined up for Bama

February 2, 2013 10:17 pm

When someone jokes that Alabama really hasn't won 3 out of the last 4 National Championships because of this reason or that reason or should I say this excuse or that excuse I kind of chuckle. I'm not chuckling because of them trying to minimize those accomplishments. No, I'm chuckling because what is about to happen.

We know they won in 2009,2011 and 2012 and were leading in the 4th quarter in 2008 when a great Tebow led Florida team came from behind and went on to win the National Championship or they play for that one. Their best team might have been 2010 but the injury bug got them. They started getting healthy toward the end of the year and we saw them jump on th eventual national champs Auburn 24-0. If it wasn't for the most destined team ever they win that game. They got totally healthy and destroyed co B1G champ Michigan St 49-7 and I mean destroyed.

The stars are all so lined up for a run of the likes never seen before with or without the 4 team playoff. I personally think the 4 team playoff is going to make it easier for them. The coach, the team, the history, the recruiting, the conference. It;s all there. Alabama will win at least 3 of the next 5 or 6 national championships. They will be better next year than this year!

They lost 3 very good offensive lineman. a few defensive lineman a solid linebacker and a couple defensive backs. They will have better receivers, as good or better running game (TJ Yeldon and wait until you see who is coming behind him) as strong a defensive front, better linebacker play with more experience thanks to CJ Mosely coming back and what might end up being their best defensive DB's since Saban has been there. And of course the greatest current college football coach in America.

Laugh now because it hasn't happened yet but remember this thread when it does! Wink

I'll check back in later to answer anything someone thinks important,

Don't just laugh and say no. Give me your reasons why it isn't feasible or won't happen. Who will challenge them over these next 5 or 6 years? Personally my only concern and I think Saban will have an answer by then is when AJ leaves. He might leave with 3 national championships as a starting Q and 4 oveall. Who is coming behind him? Before AJ we always knew who it would be. It was JP Wilson, Greg McElroy and AJ. Who is next. I think it's going to be a kid by the name of Cooper Bateman (elite 11 QB) from Utah, I think he enrolled this month. We shall see but for now it's AJ's team still!!!

Alabama has had one of the best teams in their championship years, but there is absolutely 0 proof that they were the best team that year.  Until this division has a legitimate playoff in place, no one team will ever be able to truly provide substantial evidence that they are the best in the country.

Stanford won the PAC this year, but let's be honest, Oregon was probably the better team most days. It's just luck that has put Alabama in these title games and a combination of luck, skill, and deer antler spray that has enabled them to win.

Baron

Call it what you want but they will win at least 3 of the next 6. They can't help it if teams lose and they get back in it. How many years has NC champ had a loss? Probably to many to count. When a team gets an opportunity some don't know how to take advantage of it, Alabama does!!!

BAMATEE, not at all saying Bama is the only one.  I just wish we had a better system.  Under the current one though, Bama has been the most dominant team the last 4 years.

It's just luck that has put Alabama in these title games and a combination of luck, skill, and deer antler spray that has enabled them to win.

Just as you stated that there was 0 proof that Alabama was the best team on any given year based on your opinion of reasons why not, You also have no proof that deer antler spray is the cause of anything. In fact the majority of more learned individuals with PhD behind their name who study such things have stated that this spray has no effect when taken orally, as its intended use suggests. So While we are on the subject of proof, care to back up your ludicrous statement with some, or are you just flapping your gums. Name me a team in history that has won anything that did not have a combination of luck, skill and any other components to win it all. I am sure this will go unanswered as its impossible to do, they all have those elements in order to win, so i guess the thing to say would be...Thanks Captain Obvious!

All the stars are lined up for Bama

BamaTee, I know what you mean about stars lining up. Derrick Henry on Campus now, with Yeldon in the backfield. McCarron as the leader again and the replacements for Warmack, Barrett, and Fluker all having significant playing time this year, it looks to be a very good offense.

The defense is always stellar, but this one looks to be special(like 2011 and 2009) as they are very deep and talented. With the talent coming back from an already good defense and a few to replace the depart J. Williams and a couple of others, it can be another great defense that propels this team to Atlanta in December. LSU looks to possibly drop off a bit as they had some defections due to being disgruntled with Miles. TAMU is one hurdle that will be an early season test for this defense, but I think Saban and Smart will have this one circled for sure. Arky is probably a year or two out with the new coach getting his players in place and Auburn will still be runniing that gimmick offense that has not faired well save for that one Cam Year. Ole Miss may be the spoiler this year as the new coach seems to be amassing a defense to go with that offense they seemed to find last year.

All in all I think this will be a good year for the Tide as they look pretty stout due to very few losses and the competition around them maybe falling off a bit. time will tell, but I am cautiously optimistic for another title run this year.

bandwagonboo...you should read both my posts ;-).  Obviously I am not suggesting Bama is the only one, just that the chest thumping is overblown for a team that has not proven itself to be the best.  The NFL and NCAAB at least have decent systems - D1 FBS is very much biased towards whomever the media darlings are at the time and doesn't afford all teams that deserve it the chance to win.

The Wire was more consistent, but the best seasons of The Sopranos are better than the best seasons of The Wire.

The first three seasons of The Sopranos were amazing. But after that, the show took a major nose dive. Then the final episode! I wanted to punch David Chase in the damn throat for that bull crap. Fine, it made Journey a lot of money, but come on! Have the balls to show Tony getting whacked, or not! Also, one thing I always had a problem with The Sopranos was,  these fat, old, out shape wise guys could kick the asses of guys half their age? Really? The Wire season 2? Okay, it was not the best. But Season 4 of The Wire is beyong anything ever done on TV.

I like Sons of Anarchy a good deal. But, I don't think is anywhere as good as The Wire. I will say this much, watch The Shield, that show was awesome. If you like Sons, I think The Shield will be good for you. One problem I have with Sons is, how they sometimes just go way overboard with some stuff. Also, in The Wire, they have real balls. No one was safe, no one. Also, sometimes watching Sons feels like watching a music video.
