But that was one of about 10 bad calls in that game.4 of them were made right at the end of the game by Jim Crybaugh.
If you're going to call DPI on the Boldin catch earlier (and the 49er on that play was guilty) then you have to call the hold on the 4th and goal.So the missed call on Culliver wasn't crucial as well? It prevented a TD.
Both the Ravens and Steelers won their respective SB's and both were controversial. Always will be.Uh no. You were just dying for something to throw in the Ravens face to make yourself feel better. And I suppose it wouldn't have been controversial if the Ravens lost after that power outage altered the whole course of the game? Please, you'd be telling Ravens fans to shut their whiny mouths if they lost and were upset over that, and would probably have started at least 10 threads about it already. You would then be saying there was NOTHING controversial about the Niners winning it.
We'll never know what I'd have said if the 49er's would have won it.Everyone knows EXACTLY what you would've said. There's no way in hell you would've been able to resist calling Ravens' fans crybabies and telling them that championship teams don't make excuses, they just overcome adversity... but I guess that doesn't apply to the Niners or any team that would've palyed the Ravens. And the irony is that the Ravens did overcome adversity the likes of which no other team in SB history has ever had to deal with.
The fact is that the holding was legit and should have been called. It wasn't and so now the Ravens have a controversial SB as well. And the fact is that the Ravens also had a TD robbed as well on a missed call. So fine, the Niners get the TD on the final play. The Ravens get their earlier TD and still win. Glad we settled that.
The irony is that for years they've been giving us hell about SB XL - and now we can give it right back.Except the Steelers/Hawks game was close the entire game. The Ravens were blowing out the Niners until an act of God changed the entire course of the game. The Steelers played like garbage for most of that game. The Ravens did not. Big difference in how each game played out. It shouldn't have even come down to a final play.
I concur Scuzz.
I don't get this thread. Most of the 49ers fans I've seen aren't blaming the refs. Some are, but you're right. It's mostly people that have no vested interest in the Niners and only wanted the Ravens to lose.
The most vocal aren't always the majority.Nobody listens to this fact of life. The national perception of Philly fans is all the proof you need of that.
