it is a really corny headline but we all need something to laugh about cause this is pathetic and sad.

at about 4 o clock today the Lions released Titus Young and i am not surprised or even that pissed off.

i liked him sort of cause he had talent but for whatever reason he was not able to make the plays this year like he was able to down the stretch last year. then all the twitter crap and yeah the front office has officially cut him.

the thing i am most frustrated with is that we are left with another hole to fill as we try and get the big pieces in place to get to the next level.
broyles did show a strong ability to function in the slot but being without young, even though he was a headcase, we are going to be hurting if we start to accumulate injuries like we did last year.

In steps Jeff Fischer to snatch him up and correct his attitude only to watch Titus Grab 70 passes for over 1000 yards......His talent isn't the problem. The problem is the staff doesn't know how to reach kids with character flaws......Fischer does and wouldn't shock me in the least to watch some team make him a good receiver.....Chalk up another draft bust for Mayhew. 2nd rounder at that. It's ok to swing and miss with 4th and 5th round guys but swinging and missing at 1st and 2nd round guys consistently is why where assured to have another top 10 pick next year.

April is my Superbowl.....I love the draft, sad but true.

This is indeed frustrating.

A team that already has Calvin Johnson and simply needs to find reliable complimentary receivers to go with him spent back-to-back precious 2nd round picks on the WR position and guess what? We STILL have a huge hole at WR to fill next year!!!

Hey, I have a plan. How about we STOP using precious 2nd round picks on a position that we can fill with undrafted free agents. Unless you need a #1 WR the draft is NOT the place to look for a WR. It's just not. It's stupid to do so. There are SO many capable receivers coming out of college every year. Instead of reaching for someone with potential maybe we could spend more time obtaining quality players and then providing those players with quality coaching.

The draft should be strictly for defense & offensive line and it has nothing to do with team need. The reason is because these are the hardest positions to find anyone useful in free agency.

As long as you have a franchise QB and a #1 WR there is no reason to EVER draft any position other than defense or offensive line.

RB's, complimentary WR's, TE's & backup QB's can easily be found in free agency.

By the way, is there any wonder why the Lions are such a mess and have such horrible depth?? How many of these types of players have we drafted recently?

How much better off would we be right now if instead of guys like Best, Leshoure, Young, Broyles, Pettigrew & Stanton we had used all those picks on our defense & offensive line?

Just think about that for a moment.

Young, Best & Stanton were complete busts. And regardless of what you think of Pettigrew or the potential of Leshoure & Broyles...none of them were worth a low first/high second draft pick.

Imagine what this team could have looked like is a little intelligence was used when making draft selections.

+Great plan. Let's just start filling all of our starting roles with undrafted free agents...

Yep, only stupid GMs actually DRAFT their players. The good ones just pass on all their draft picks and just grab up the best guys that didn't get drafted. That's where the real talent lies- in the players that everyone passed on at least 7 times.

The draft should be strictly for defense & offensive line and it has nothing to do with team need. The reason is because these are the hardest positions to find anyone useful in free agency.
Where do you come up with this stuff?

As long as you have a franchise QB and a #1 WR there is no reason to EVER draft any position other than defense or offensive line.
I'm honestly laughing out loud at this. I've got a few beers in me tonight and you're theories on how to run a team are hilarious!

A.) That's not even remotely true.
B.) You seem to have forgotten about LBs and DBs- if we shouldn't ever draft them, and they're not readily availale as UDFAs, then are we just going to skip those positions alltogether?

Shok couldn't possibly do any worse then Millen or Mayhew.

Al Davis was hiliarious, were just a joke in the scouting, managing and coaching department.....Much like the Browns we've both sucked since the 50's. The difference being the Browns on paper look better then us.

It's worked for the Lions the past decade, what makes you think addressing LB and DB's with 4th 5th and 6th round picks is addressing the problem?

It wasn't addressed.....4th round picks are much like fliers because the Lions can't scout.....Take Seattle for example. They just impolde on the seen with talented starters all across the board in the past 3 years which where drafted in the 3rd round or beyond starting with Russell Wilson.....It's the coaching, scouting and scheme the Lions lack......

This option read is here to stay and it's not a gimmick. Kaepernick, Wilson, RG3, Two rookies and a sophomore.....That's not chance, that's a change in philisophy.

You realize that you're not obligated to post here and/or support the Lions, right?

I can't figure out you guys who are constantly negative- what happiness do you get out of posting? "Mayhew sucks at running the team... Schwartz blows... WCF doesn't care... etc..." Why bother? Is it because we reply and you equate that to us listening to your rants?

All-in-all I don't much care, but I can't immagine following a team I disliked so much. What's the point for you guys?

This is just your youth showing. It's ok....I applaud your optimism. I was once like you. I told my dad, This is the year. We have Barry Sanders and Scott Mitchell had a Pro Bowl year.

Heck think I told the ole man We have Matty Pimp and get ready for some damage to be done this year. Us older guys have all seen this tired game before.

When your ready to join the club I think zwic is a full member, meow might be crossing the picket line and I'll be the CFO to make sure no more money is wasted on this product we put on the field.

That's only because were much older fans then you. The decades of losing has been hard on us. It doesn't make any of us less of a fan, just more of a realist.....

God didn't want Ray Lewis to win the SB. But if he's as religious as he says he is, maybe he believes it. I'm a realist and believe god could care less.

Start being a realist in your everyday Lion life and realize the franchise is broke (cap wise) and ability to field a quality team.

You think the religious guys are silly because they believe god cares about the winner of a SB. Same can be said, Some think your silly for your beilef that this team has turned the corner or is remotely close to turning the corner.

I'll pray for you TP, then again, I don't think god gives a crap about my prayer too you. He didn't about the SB.Tongue out

I root for Detroit to rape the Seattle scouting department is what I do. They apparently figured it out. We have however havn't for decades......Seattle has been to a SB. They have a quality team on the rise with youth and they have only been in the league since the late 70s......Why can't Detroit do this?

WCF? I can't imagine 47 years of the SB era we could be this inept to not get us to a SB.......Someone tell me where the ineptness starts? I think Ford has been there all along......Let that joker die and there will be change.Laughing

Yet another classic eff up by Millenhew.  The Detroit Lions Clown Show had more time to spend with Young at the Senior Bowl then pretty much every team in the NFL has to spend with their draft picks and look what it got for us.  I do not understand how anyone can support these two idiots.  Even cutting Young as soon as it was allowed is a pathetic attempt to show that these morons have control of a team they so very clearly dont have control of.  This is getting absolutely laughable.  With Millenhew and Spaz leading the way this team is imploding and will be well positioned to stay at the bottom of the NFL for many years to come once the Clown Show finishes their destruction.

Sounds like Victor Cruz and his little shimmy that drives the ladies crazy are going to hit the FA market. Evidently perma- hurt Hakeem Nicks is more of a priority. I'm sure Eli Manning will just make a star outta somebody else. Titus Young maybe?
