2013 and the future of the AFC North...

February 4, 2013 7:09 pm

Well, I was going to swing through and offer a "good luck" on Saturday, but never got around to it.  So, I guess a "congrats" will have to do instead.

Not sure who the rest of Steelers nation may have been pulling for, but if the Steelers don't go-- I'd rather cheer on a fellow respected AFC North rival.  My other option was to cheer on the 49ers as they overtake the Steelers in SB win percentage (ain't gonna happen from me).

Either way, I am glad now the "division with the fierecest rivalries" debate can end now.  The most competitive division is NOT, the AFC East, is NOT the NFC North, is NOT the NFC East.  Now, 4 of the last 15 rings live in the AFC North, and 5 of the last 15 AFC conference champions came from the AFC North.  Hard to argue with that.  The Ravens-Steelers rivalry is right up there with the Patriots-Colts (Manning's Colts) as the NFL's best.

Also, am not a hater-- I was glad to see Ray Lewis go out on a high note.  Even though he is a murderer ( :-P), he went out with style and class.  He is without a doubt the best MLB to play the game, and his presence alone inspires the younger guys to play their best.  I wil be one of the first to say I saw your guys as a dead team around week 10, one that would likely win the AFC North by default, but get bounced in round 1.  I was wrong.  Ray Lewis was a huge part of that resurgence, as well as some great play by Joe Sacko.  Isn't it funny how the murder trial was not an issue for over a decade, and then, when he is ready to retire a hero-- the naysayers decide that trial is an issue again?

Anyhow, congrats on the big win!  Celebrate now-- so we can get back to arguing about whether the Ravens sink to 3rd or 4th place in the AFC North next year!  (j/k-- kind of)

This was annoying.  Even on the main boards, people acted like they just heard about it for the first time and everyone was an eye witness Undecided

I hope there's no superbowl hangover but it's always possible.  Baltimore will lose a lot of key players on defense and the motivational leader will be gone.  Ozzie is going to need to be at his best this offseason

Yeah I am just beyond sickened by the media anymore.  There are no journalists with even an ounce of integrity anymore and it's all because of the Internet and bloggers.  Stupid fans write scathing controversial articles, and now the people that get paid to supposedly investigate and report on things lower down to the same level because it garners more headlines and attention.

Even the deer antler garbage came up right at the Super Bowl instead of the 4 weeks prior (if it really had to do with Ray Lewis's recovery).  More garbage from people seeking to peddle products and get attention for themselves.

Believe it that if the Steelers get to the SB again in a few years with Ben at the helm that the 2 high profile rape cases along with other incidents will come to light.  Sadly, we're all stuck with these no class and no talent hacks masquerading as journalists.

Thanks SteelPlatoon.  Mighty neighborly of ya.  I posted a poll on the main boards just before the game to Steelers fans about who they're cheering for and their reasons for it.  I'd heard many say they were cheering for the Ravens b/c of the 49ers catching up to the Steelers and a few who just said they could never cheer on the Ravens no matter what.  Well through some technical CBS malfunction it never posted and I didn't realize it until after the game.  Now it just doesn;t seem as relevant.

There are too many so-called reporters like there are too many lawyers.  In the journalist field you have your hacks like in law you have your ambulance chasers.  All these hacks can do is hope to take down an icon so they can look good to some for a moment.  It's a sad state of affairs for their profession.

We had two teams in the playoff from this confrence with only one team (the Browns) had a losing record. My Steelers should of be in the playoff of well thats ok. We have not had a losing record in a decade. Congrats to your Ravens for the Championship, nice way to rep the AFC north.
