They should clear the salary by trading Krejci in the deal but a cannot imagne anyone wanting him.  He is claerly the 3rd best center on the team but so one demnsonalo he can only play and offensive role.  Seguin should be given that spot on line one and slid iggy in with Bergeron and Marchand.  IF a trade were made.

But I can't see Calgary being smart enough to trade him.

Krejci has been skating extremely well this year and can be a dominant player at times, proven in recent playoff runs.  No way the Bruins are including their top offensive center in the deal.

As for Cap space .. with Thomas gone and Savard on IR, the Bruins have more than enough cap space to take on Iginla now, money is NOT an issue now if the B's decide to acquire him.

Calgary will trade him ... just makes too much sense.  And if he REALLY wants to retire a Flame, he could always jump back with em after the season.  I don't think playing 1/4 of a season and playoffs on another team would really question his loyalty to the Flames.  IF however, this is his plan, then the draft pick in the deal would have to be conditional.  If Iginla goes back to Calgary after this season, they'd have to settle for a #2 draft pick instead of a #1.

They could still have top prospect Spooner if Iginla's plan is just to be a rental and return after the year is out.

Calgary would still come out ahead in this scenario with a top prospect and a #2 draft pick.  They'd only renting Inginla for a short time and ending up with some young pieces as a result AND having Jerome back for next season ... it would be a win win for them.

IF Iginla stays with the Bruins though ... then it would have to be Spooner, #1 pick, and another player from AHL ... still a win for them in that they'd gain 3 young pieces ... and the Bruins would have the services of Iginla for more than just a short rental.

He and the Flames haven't said a thing .. if anything, they've stayed with the notion that he's going to stay in Calgary, which would be foolish IMO .... as I said before, they could just rent him out and get him right back if they're so bent on him retiring a Flame.

As for the 'time machine' ... he's started off slowly the past couple of years .. and this is with Calgary.  When he gets going, he'd be a very good offensive addition, especially with the kind of players Boston could pair him with.

As for his choices .. their wouldn't be a better choice than Boston.  They could uses another veteran with a scoring touch, as well as someone who would be very hungry for a Cup win.

NY Rangers are showing interest now I guess .. that could be a decent sport for him as well.

Philly was mentioned.   I can't see him goin to Philly though, as their defense is suspect, their injuries have piled up, and he'd only be a band-aid to float em into the playoffs.

The B's have the cap space .. that was half the battle ...  and they have prospects that would benefit Calgary long term ...  seems like a perfect match to me.

they've stayed with the notion that he's going to stay in Calgary,
They've been on that line of thought since 2010 when most of the hockey started specualting on where he would land.     Here we are 3 years later.

this has to be the dumbest comment ive seen in a while....you clearly havent seen the Bruins play this year or the last few.....
this year Krejci has been one of if not the best Bruins players and do you happen to remember 2011, the Bruins playoff run to win the cup?? do you know who lead the playoffs in scoring that year?? ill help you.....David Krejci!!

Iggy would be interesting... but I can't see Calgary letting him go...at least for less than a 1st and a servicable plyer like Paille or younger and servicable.

At that point, PC may look elsewhere.. like Alfredsson if he becomes available... another possibilty i could see... but do not like... is Ryan Smith for next to nothing.. but plugging him into the Bs somewhere... I just see PC looking for the old guy...as good or bad as it may be..
