Raiders more in salary cap purgatory, not hell

February 6, 2013 1:55 pm

They were in cap hell last year and the only FA's they could afford to bring in were garbage dump players like Briesel, Spencer and Bartell. They caught a break with Wheeler because he ended up being fairly decent for a vet minimum player. The situation isn't dire but it's still pretty bleak no matter how you look at it.

This could't be because they cut Wimbley and Routt, gaining exactly 4.5M on the season to replace two starters. .. Yes that's right, they paid over $18M in dead money to these two players in 2012. Effectively creating 2 starting holes with a below average amount of gain to actually replace said players.

Cutting Wimbley saved 18 million in future dollars. Cutting Routt prevented 51 1st downs and 33 TDs over the next 3 years

Both these players are average ****

You talk pressures a lot. Is there a time limit on pressures? Say I'm at RDE, Kiff is at DT(yea, I called you fat), and Drake is drunkenly failing at LDE - If I'm the 1st guy to get there after 10 minutes, do I get credited with a pressure?

Cutting or trading Kelly,McClain & DHB will save the Raiders $18 million.  Seymour is a FA & also Lechler I believe.  Palmer stays, & so does Brisiel. Janikowski is the only ?  If Reggie could get a 2nd or 3rd rounder for Seabass, he should take it. Same would go for Branch, but doubtful that would happen.

You can make any request you want. It's a free country (unless you count taxes, they cost something).

So according to that if Kelly is cut we're under. With Carson and Dhb restructure it cuts another good amount off of this years account. Cutting Briesle might take a hit but its worth getting out if the 20 mil 4 year contract. Cutting McClain and recoupe those bonuses that's more money. I just don't see how we're always in cal hell...if its this bad how are we even fielding a team?!? I feel like we won't be able to sign anyone except draft picks the way they put it.
