Doc does well recruiting for Marshall

Marshall's class has been ranked #1 by Rivals among non-BCS schools.   I know many here HATE Marshall and could care less.  I have no issue with that.  I'm a MOUNATINEER fan first!  But I don't see Marshall as a traditional "rival" for WVU.  I look at Marshall as a school that represents the State of WV.  they're the "little brother".  And although you might have little fights with your brother, you still love him.

I was proud of Marshall's D-2 National Championship team...   proud to know some of their players; proud of Coach Pruett  being a Beckley, WV native; proud that Chad Pennington and Byron Leftwich played college in WV; proud that Moss was a WV native (even though he had a reputation as being a thug); proud that Beckley's Doug Legurskey has a Super Bowl ring (and his little brother is a Police Officer for the City of Beckley).  I NEVER want to see Marshall take ANY attention from WVU...  but I like to see them do well, unless they're playing WVU!

Check out some of their recruits...  4 4-stars and some transfer's from Penn St. and other BCS programs:

Doc has always been known as a great recruiter.  There was a big drop off in WVU recruiting when he left.  How do we let him get 4 4 star recruits?

another thing I noticed is that they guys who do not qualify get forgotten and not  offered again. Deontay McManus, our top recruit from last year is now qualified ana Marshall 4 star commit.  Deon long, now a 5 star is going to Maryland,  Sam Lebbie from last years class is now qualified an not at WVU.  Quantavarious Leslie is now qualified and going to LSU.  All of these guys would look really good on our roster.

Well I only see (3) 4 stars on Rivals - Houston, Jean-Louis and McManus and if you look at Scout they only have Jean-Louis as a 4 star.  If you look at ESPN they show (5) 4 stars - Jean-Louis, Turene, Benjamin, Wilson and a Michael Johnson who is not even listed on the Rivals.
The are listed as #72 on Rivals and #62 on Scout for overall National rating of the their class.

I agree with that, Dawg.  I root for the Herd in most of their games.  Doc has always been a great recruiter, and Marshall has always had a knack of getting those players who fall through the cracks, or can not qualify somewhere else, like Moss.   I know quite a few Marshall fans, including my dad and brother, who hated it when they left the MAC for CUSA for money, dad went from going to almost every game to just the home games.

I wish Marshall well, and will root for them in all their games but one.

For the record, Lebbie signed with Troy, and I agree I can't understand why we seemed to give up on these guys when we turn right around and have kids that won't make it this year due to grades as well. Frustrating to think we could have had Lebbie,McManus and Long to go along with these other guys. However an up note Roshard Burney( also last years class) is still claiming he will be a Mountaineer and he is supposed to be qualified in December so.. Lets hope.

I can see that.  Nut don't fall far from the tree!  Tongue out

Well you know their ticket prices are about half of what WVU charges!  ...just sayin'.  Wink
