Lakers at Heat 2/10/13

Like much of the season, two bad elements reared their ugly head in the Fourth Quarter: turnovers and lack of Team basketball.

Lakers couldn't rebound. That's what really killed them. They got unlucky on a few deflected passes too---went right into a Heat player's hands. But, plain and simple, the Heat are just a better basketball team right now. I really like Ed Clark though. I think he's going to be a good player for a long time in this league. The Lakers better hang on to that kid.

Well, I still feel better now than I did after the Celtic loss. It's still a lot of wait and see though. If we play defense, Team Basketball, and cut down on turnovers we'll be in great shape for a healthy return of Pau. It's a tall order, but it can be done.

The 4th quarter.....I blame NASH. DA a bit too. Alright, first off Kobe is on a island everytime on that post up play that they keep running in the 4th quarter, and when he's on a island you know he's going to shoot. I haven't seen anything like it. They throw him the ball and everybody backs off like go ahead and do ya thing Kobe. Nash kept deferring to that Kobe post up NO MATTER WHAT. Nash has to be a PG and do what he wants with the ball, he has the cahce to look off Kobe every now and then. As for Ron Artest, I'll leave him alone but his days as defensive stopper would be passed over to Earl Clark if I was running the team. Earl Clark made everything tough for LeBron James. If you can make him make a tough shot, you win in my book, no matter the result of the shot.

They needed more team rebounding.   Metta had 0 rebounds, but I understand that when he's focused on Lebron, but others needed to step up.  Pau is nother, and that's a lot of height gone.  No one off the bench really contributed on the board.  Jamison didn't do much on the boarch and there was no other height.

Yeah it was embarrassing watching Metta try and play LeBron tightly out on the preimeter and then watching LeBron blow right past him. He should have left more spacing and made LeBron shoot jump shots. Metta's not even smart enough to realize he's not the defender he once was.

Clark has been great.  I'm just worried he's playing so well that he's playing his way out of LA.. IMO at minimum he's a $4M a year player now (Jerebko on the Pistons is a decent comp contract wise).  If LA doesn't want to take on any long term money beyond next season they could let him walk..

Hill and Clark are great role players.  There's no bs agenda with them (like getting touches).   Clark's shooting has been an absurd and unforeseen addition to this team..

THIS.  Metta is more dangerous than most washed up players because, well, he's effing crazy.  I laughed my ass off today when he tried to post LeBron up.

He and Jamison kill this team.  For the reasons Kold listed Nash hasn't been aces by any means, but he's at least valuable.  These two aint..

Totally agree, Kold. Moving away from Team Ball, and going iso-Kobe, really hurt us. Oh, Kobe obviously is capable of making those shots, but it's definitely better for The Team to be more Balanced.

Heat getting numerous tries at the basket in the first half kiiled the Lakers. Lakers should of had a ten point lead at halftime. Heat are the worst rebounding team in the NBA. Howard should of got alot more rebounds too. Then in the 4th quarter a bunch of unforced turnovers. KOBE has to take care of the ball better. All the good he does on offense is negated somewhat by him turning the ball over. Also too much iso going on and not enough teamwork. The offense wasn't that bad and the defense was pretty good but getting out rebounded by 9 against the worst rebounding team and turning the ball over in the 4th will kill a team.

He already has.  Marginal players are offered big Bucks.  Clark appears to be a real useful/versatile NBA  player.  Teams will be lined up to seek his services.

Funny, the one bright spot on your miserable season will no longer be with you and you are stuck with Nash for 2 more years.

"Miami can't be beat when Wade plays like that.. Thought LA actually played pretty well today until the 4th"

However, people continue to throw dirt on his grave and analyze all of his regular season games.

You guys evalute every regualr season game and act like Wade has to play with max effort all season long.   Just because Kobe has been forced into that type of situation doesn't mean Wade is in the same position.

He has James to do the heavy lifting. He knows his body. He knows when the sason becomes important, and he knows he needs to be healthy at that point and time in order to do his part  if the Heat are to win 16 more playoff games thi s season.

I didn't get to see the game because starting at the end of the 4th quarter of the Knicks game they had the weather man on my screen...unfunkin believable...but I think this whole ISO thing is for Kobe to read and react but nobody is helping defensively so nobody is cutting for the Lakers...it's flawed because we need our players to force their will not always react...as for Clark I think he may be slowing a bit...I mean stats say he played well but every game or 2 he drops just a little...he has been in the league only a few years and has never played significant minutes...it's like the rookie wall if you will...I think he should start at the 4 play 28-32 minutes and Artest should back him up at the 4 for the rest of those minutes and if the Lakers aren't signing another defensive SF start Ebanks or Meeks and let Artest play the back up 3 as well...he'll get 20-30 minutes because he still brings some good to the team but he is not a starter anymore...I've argued he should start at the 4 but Earl has earned it and is just a better stretch 4...that's my 2 penny's...
