MILES MAYJUST HAVE SAVED HIS JOB

February 10, 2013 1:50 pm

The recent hiring of former ravens OC Cameron may have gotten Les out of the doghouse for at least a few years!

Now if he can just leave the man alone and let him coach, kind of like he does with Chavis and the D, LSU cannot help but be a more formidable opponent next year!

If he works out, can you imagine an LSU team with an offense to match its defense?

That happens and BAMA can start planning other functions for the months of december and january!

I am looking for LSU/TAMU  in the west, UF/ Missouri in the east

LOL  J/K  J/K  UF and UGA/ east

andyhamiltn, my avatar breaking his hand in '07 the same day Miles laid an egg vs Arky is the only reason Miles is still around.  West Va would have destroyed Ohio St just the same with a healthy Pat White at QB.

MILES MAYJUST HAVE SAVED HIS JOB

Tons of elected officials gets 2 terms or 8 years.  Miles has served his 2 terms, LSU Brass is gonna regret pushing the envelope with this guy.  He was smiling when he took his headset off after Clemson kicked the game winning FG in the Peach Bowl.  He has rooked alot of people, now he is set for life financially, so he will continue to regress with a huge contract buyout.

Lets poll these 5 people for input:  Russell Shepard, Matt Flynn, Gary Crowton, Jarrett Lee, Terrence Toliver/Rueben Randle.  Bet they agree with me.  I would bet $100 on it.

MILES MAYJUST HAVE SAVED HIS JOB

February 10, 2013 5:57 pm

I sure hope he does a great job for us.  My long running supposition about Miles is that he is a great recruiter and motivator but he needs great assistants to coach that talent.  Obviously Chavis has proven his worth at DC now if we can get that level coaching on offense, we'll be a threat to dethrone Bama fro its current perch.

We should be much eimproved on offense next year regardless with all of our key players back but an imaginative and brilliant OC is really needed especially when we go up against Bama & the Gators.

MILES MAYJUST HAVE SAVED HIS JOB

Just My Opinion....

1- Miles is not "saving" his job if he hires Cam, he is just improving his odds of winning

2- Miles is a lot like Charlie Mac.  Most LSU fans thought Mac was a dufus.  They begged for him to go.  And when he did Tiger football took a nose dive.  Crazy but they clamored for "bring back the magic"  and how did that dufus work out??

3-  As I recall, LSU lost 3 games in 2012.  Fla was a winable game.  In fact had the receiver not fumbled trying to get extra yards the game changes along with strategy.  and who knows.  Then vs, Bama all cry about what the O didn't do...  anyone watch the last drive for what the D didnt do???  And look at Clemson game for a repeat...  OH WAIT Miles must have told Chavis to screw up the D calls...

4- Have you ever notice when HS stars begin speaking out loud about how they will "tear up the stat sheets in college" they rarely do...

Sorry LSUTiger1978, but I have to respectfully disagree with you here. I think LSU is "rebuilding" this yr.... But I hope you are right.

LSU is not rebuilding this year.  Yes they lost alot on defense.  They have plenty of talent to plug in the holes.  If Cam can keep the offense on the field longer the young D should be fine.  The defense line interior is still strong.  The Linebackers as a whole will be an upgrade.  It hurts with Minter gone but the young guys are ready to play.  LSU's corners have a year of college ball under them.  The loss of Reid stings but who really thought he would come back for his Senior year?

One glaring weakness at LSU is QB development.  Cam supposedly is really good at QB development.  Les trusts him and will most likely let him have a little more control than previous OC's.

I am not a huge Les fan but he is our coach.  Expect the Offense to grind and the Defense to be steady.

Truthfully CJ and 1978, I have felt that all along or since I became aware who is going to the PROS!

We finally have gotten to where we RELOAD every year instead  of REBUILD, feels great I gotta admit!

Now if Cam works out,  I will feel better !

We do know he will be an improvement over last season!

I remember Charlie Mac well, he was still our coach when i got to Baton Rouge!  I still remember 2 games that we lost that hurt worse than the bama NCG though!

To ND when they were #1 ,   3 to 0  ,  The very first time we ever played them, game was in S BEND!  LSU got the modern day respect they deserved that day in 69 by the National media. Then the game against USC in TIGER STADIUM when we were robbed of the game late on a facemask call on our OLineman, They were considered the TEAM OF THE CENTURY, because of all the so called great players that played for the TROJANS that loaded  that team. There was a sick number of AA and 2 HT winners, LSU had the game well in hand until very, very late in the game, kind of like bama this year. For me it was DejaVU, I was even sitting in the same section of the stadium
for this years game with bama.

78, you'e a good poster but I think you're pumping a little too much sunshine there for Miles.

Florida was definitely a winable game. LSU shut them out the first half. They lost because the offense is pathetic and Mett was a Mutt at this point. Who's fault is that? Why didn't Mett play in 2011 in all those blowouts? I do agree about that fumble, but 1 play does not a game make.

Bama game? You conveniently want to forget about Less calling 4 unnecessary trick plays that didn't work? Or how the D held Bama to 5 straight three and outs in the 3rd and 4th quarter and Miles didn't go for the kill?  Bama should have NEVER been in position to win with a TD at the end of the game. That is ALL because of Miles. Yes, the D broke in the final 50 seconds.

Same for Clemson. You think 100 plays of offense is ok and the D should be stoked? I have one simple question for you; how many carries did Hill have in the 4th quarter?

If Miles lets Cam do his job, LSU will be ok. If he meddles, welcome to 8-10 win seasons for 7 years. An occasional 11 win or maybe even a trip to the SECCG if other teams drop off is possible.

If Miles keeps his hands out of the offense...

Which I won't believe until I see it.

Not to mention QBs have a tendency to downturn at LSU.  Your QB play will probably be worse next year.  Sorry LSU fans - that's not a jab, that's just observation.

Andyhamiltn,

Big time respect for the LSU program from a Gator fan. Sitting from our side we think you guys are a bit hard on your coach. Do any other SEC coaches create as much entertainment value as Les? Outstanding recruiter, motivator, brought in a great defensive coach and I can't imagine a better hire than Cam Cameron. His pedigree from coaching Drew Brees, Philip Rivers, Joe Flacco and getting the best out of Ronnie Brown at Miami was only tarnished by a down year with the Ravens. Only caution: we thought we had landed a gem in 2010 when we talked the offensive genius Charlie Weis into coming to Gainesville to coach our offense and no one debates that year was a complete bust. I wonder how many big time NFL coaches are able to make the transition to offensive coordinator? In any case, think it will be a war in Death Valley next October when the Gators come into town. Good luck to you from a fan that shares a common adversary (BAMA).

This is the same Cam Cameron who was let go by the Ravens this season, correct? One of the criticisms I often heard was their O lacked an identity. Isn't this LSU's issue (among others) as well?

Not a good sign the Ravens' offense played far better (against better teams) after Cam's dismissal.

After what CC did in Baltimore LSU made out like bandits. The LSU offense is similar to the Ravens offense the Cam helped mold. Yeah he may have struggled some, but it's the NFL, all teams struggle at some point. LSU is suppose to have a solid oline this coming year, their RB's are as lethal as any in the league once again, and I hear LSU will have two top 25 WRs. When people complain about Cam Cameron and what's happened over the last year they tend to forget that Cam was the one who molded Flacco into what he is as an NFL QB. Miles unlike Harbaugh should be a great fit with Cameron. Harbaugh kind of gave Cameron free reign, Miles will act as a good precautionary voice in the play calling gameplan I think. Cam and Les offset eachother nicely and this could be Miles chance to show how much of a 'coach' he really is.

MILES MAYJUST HAVE SAVED HIS JOB

February 14, 2013 10:37 pm

Miles is the only reason LSU doesn't have about 4 titles in the last few years and he lucked into the one he did win. LSU recruits talent. A monkey could pull in top 10 classes sat LSU and that talent is the only reason Miles isn't losing 5 games a season. He has gotten bailed out of stupid call after stulid call by simply having talent on the field. His utter failure can be seen in the QB position since he became coach. LSU is one of the priemer programs in the country and they haven't had a single QB worth a crap since Miles took over. The bedt QB recruit in recent memory gets run off by his clear lack QB management and all he does is bad mouth the kid. They were throwing parties when he left OSU and now LSU fans know why.
