then yes they are the best.... at the right time.

Being the best at the right time doesn't mean you are overall the best.Otherwise any team that goes on a 6 game winning streak during the season would also have to be recognized as the best.

If anyone thinks my statement is wrong (you didn't but the Duke guy did) then they need to relearn theri logic. Obviously the champ isn't aleways the best overall team or even in the argument sometimes. All I said was that the team that wins the NCAAT is the best team at the right time. Just like how in hockey Pittsburgh is the best team right now. When the playoffs come we could look back and say it had to be Chicago overall. Actually better example... the Kings were an 8 seed last year and weren't even playing that well headining into the playoffs before beasting it. NOONE denied they were the best team during the playoffs hands down, but noone was stupid enough to say they were the best overall team. That likely went to the team they beat in the first round, Vancouver.

This thread is still alive?  Wow.  Jeff Goodman has an article on this very site that says the Hoosiers have been the best team all season long.  So I guess that means they should raise a banner...except I can guarantee Indiana doesn't care about that.  They want the tournament title, something that actually means something.

NO ONE is saying that "being the best" holds more weight than being the champion.

Funny that you mention academics while name calling.  Goodman called IU the "best team" of the season.  IU couldn't care less.  So why are you so fired up about being "right" in this topic?

It's who ever is the hottest at the right time, not neccassirly the "best" team.
