Nate Montana

Joe Montana's kid, Nate, is draft-eligible this year.

He hasn't exactly had a stellar college career, but if he's still there in the 7th I'd have to think we should take a shot on him. He's 6'4" with a strong arm... seems like a better fit in our offense than Kellen Moore.

Nate is an emotional train wreck with two alcohol related arrests in two different states already. He's got a noodle arm to boot (just what the Lions need). Maybe you're getting him confused with his brother Nick Montana who also has emotional problems but is the better prospect of the two. Regardless it's pointless for the Lions to seek either.

The jury is still out on Nick after his first transfer. I believe he's only a RS sophomore but still the better of the two. Nate however, playing at four different colleges in four years, pretty much sums up his stability and effectiveness. Last name recognition shouldn't land anyone a position in the NFL. Nate couldn't even lock down a starting position in high school.

TP, usually u have good ideas, but this is a pi$$ poor one. Nate couldn't hack it at any college. He transferred from ND to like North Dakota or some small school and couldn't even compete against that talent. Just bc he has the Montana DNA doesn't mean he'll be just like Joe.

If I was going to take an Irish retread I would take Dayne Crist from Kansas via Notre Dame.

He was better than Montana and got caught up in the head coaching changes. Not that either wuld be very appealing I would rather take Landry Jones in the fifth if I was going to take a QB, if he slid a round or two.

I read that he had a live arm, but never watched him play. If he doesn't have the arm, then he doesn't fit our system, ala Kellen Moore...

I like the kid the Packers picked up last year- B.J. somethingerother (can't recal his last name at the moment) out of Chatanooga (sp).

Very raw, but big, athletic and has a rocket arm. That's the kind of kid we should be trying to develop as trade bait, not a Kellen Moore type...

Dayne was definitely the better QB.  The problem is he injured his knee against WSU, and never seemed to fully recover.  he alwyas looked timid after that, like he was scraed to take a hit.  I could understand that, but you can't think like that when you're in the pocket.  Even at Kansas, he never looked the same.  Ah well.

I like Landry.  From what i heard from OU fans though, he never seemed to be able to step up on the big stage.  he seemed to put up big numbers against inferior competition, but failed when he was needed most.

I could definitely see that. Going into the year he was talked about as possibly the #1 QB. I think he has talent and very well could be a sit and stash type. 

I really don't see Geno Smith as a game changer. And Tyler Wilson looked alot like Landry last year. Except he was in the SEC and his underperformance was seen as a coaching issue. I would not bet a 1st round pick on the programs issues and not the players.

 

I'd rather bring in Joe Montana at 82 or what ever he is now than bring in Nate.  I may bring in Joe Montegna before Nate Montana.  He can poorly act like a QB too!!!

We should sign him as our pass-pro back. If someone breaks through on a blitz they could say "hello" to his little friend... 

But the problem with Tony is his huge drug habit. That's the last thing we need on this team. I'd rather have Tony the Tiger, then we'd be grrrreat!

I guess we dont want Tony Danza either with our leadership questions we still wont know who the boss is!

I wouldn't mind picking up Tony Gwynn. He's a career .338 hitter...

Tony Soprano might be a little past his prime, but, I assume he could still dole out some hits. Capiche!?!
