One thing he's not - he's not a slot receiver. I've seen a lot of talk about that, and it's not accurate.

He's a do-everything offensive weapon. He has elite speed and elite quickness. He's lethal on intermediate routes and on deep routes. He also has a significant number of runs each year - not just the normal end-around stuff that WRs occasionally do.

He's a little like Aaron Hernandez or Reggie Bush in that way. His position is listed as WR, just like Hernandez's is TE and Bush's is RB, but all three players are so talented and so versatile that in some ways thinking of them as a WR, TE, RB is limiting.

Wasn't Belichick going to draft Harvin if it wasn't for him going to the Vikings the pick before the Patriots?

I think he would be a great talent IF he can stay on the field.  I think he will command to much money for his true value.

I think the Pats should make a run at Amendola.  He is a Welker clone (almost). Amendola gets banged up, but he is much cheaper and McDaniels knows the guy.

I'd say PASS on Harvin and try to find better value.  The guy hasn't been on teh field for an entire season for awhile.

The problem with harvin is he wants top dollar, he wants to be paid in the top 3 receiver range.

We all know there will be some unexpected and expected cuts before the OFFICIAL offseason starts, Im hoping NE grabs a Quality WR and DB out of this. I just seen a report on NFL Network that claims Ed Reed WILL be a patriot and also Boldin Will be released as a cap casualty, I dont know about yous guys but i would take Boldin Before Harvin, I know Boldin Isn`t a speed guy anymore but damn he is big and Strong and can get first downs in the clutch, Im almost thinking NE would be better suited with a Boldin type WR than a speedy WR..

I agree we don't need to throw to deep all the time. I like Jared Cook, I know, I know not another TE but damn this guys 6'5 and he's quick.

Boldin said if the Ravens release him, he's retiring.

And there are four great move the chains guys already on the roster - Hernandez, Gronkowski, Lloyd and Welker (probably). Someone has to go deep.

There are better WR's on the market IMO.
Who?

Harvin is very injury prone too.
No he's not, he missed three games in three years before this year and its reported he was placed on IR because of his fued with Frazier.

I'm not saying don't go after him, but assess everything first, because i think they can find better elsewhere.
Again, who?

Drawme, where were those guys in the AFC CG? None of them moved those chains at critical times..  I know there was no Gronk, but the others dropped big balls in that game, especially Welker..

And Boldin's not really any better than at least two of them.

I mean, if your players go out and play a bad game in the playoffs, it doesn't really matter how talented they are, you're going to lose. The Pats have one of the NFL's absolute elite sets off offensive personnel, really lacking only a deep threat (and 95% of the time they don't even need one). If they lay an egg, they lay an egg. They did not lose that game as a result of not having good enough short-to-intermediate yardage pass catchers.

Even if Boldin wanted to be a Patriot, he does not bring anything that Gronkowski doesn't...when healthy.

Woodson hates the Patriots. He never got over the Tuck Rule. Don't even worry about him, he's not coming here.

If the report that Percy's unhappy with the system in Minnesota rather than unhappy with his contract, that changes the equation a lot. Trading a decent draft pick for him and then having to give him a monster contract isn't worth it. Trading a decent draft pick for him and doing a moderate contract? Sure. Let's do that.

Also makes it potentially easier for Minnesota to talk him into staying and fully participating, though.

I agree Yankee Traveler, but you don't think that Harvin will want elite $ as well?  Course he will.  He's going to the 49ers for their 1st round draft choice.

Those guys didn't get it done when needed against Baltimore, so don't go saying that these guys are the elite of the elite. Yes, Gronk was out, but that's 2 years in a row now. Lloyd is big time overrated. How often have you seen him run after the catch? Rubber legs. Welker is really good, but he won't come back for the "home team discount" and I don't blame him. Hernadez, give me a break.  Remember 13 pts vs Baltimore. How quick you pats fans forget.

Neither will play for the Pats. Woodson is over the hill and done physically and Reed will stay with the Ravens. He said he won't play for the Patriots next season. He said his teammates would disown him with lafter after.

Are you on crack? Harvin is much better than any of those 3. He can do it all. Wallace is a one trick pony which isn't a bad thing but not for 9 million a year. Bowe? Give me a break. No speed.  Jennings? Always hurt and doesn't have near the skill level Harvin can bring to the field. Wake up when you write on a subject.
