Your dream coach?

February 12, 2013 4:25 pm

My dream coach for Michigan is not so much a particular name as a set of coaching skills: the ability to recruit well and "coach-up" those recruits to reach their full potential, an overall vision for what he wants the team to be and the ability to build toward that vision, surrounding himself with excellent staff (OC and DC), great in-game decisions and strategies, the abilty to win games with the players he has, caring about players as athletes AND as people, continued growth as a HC, and less interested in promoting himself than the team and the institution he works for.

Hey TD be careful the Michigan folk might tell Les to try and sabatoge the LSU folks!

Oh!  Wait I forgot, they REALLY DIDNT WANT MILES!  No uh UH! they didnt offer him the job, ARKANSAS either!  How ridiculas
Arkie really wanted that idiot, I mean head coach from Wisky all along!  All I have heard is the wisconsin fans lamenting bout losing
him ever since!

I would take the bear/ unless dead dont count, even dead I think I would take him over half the coaches today!

Better game might be what past coach from YOUR school would you want/

i say Paul Dietzel, guy was ahead of his time/ screwed up and left LSU for ARMY cause he was chasing money and prestige back in the day when armed forces were the TOP DOGS!

Yes UMich. You just perfectly described the coach that my team is fortunate enough to have at the helm. I'm not going to claim he is the best in the land, but he's certainly one of them. And a complete class act as well.

The answer to this question for me is a no-brainer. It's Nick Saban. The guy may be kind of a jerk, but what a coach he is. Incredible.

Gary Patterson. He has done an incredible job at TCU. His D's are always one of the top units in the country. He has midwest ties from his days at KSU which could help the recruiting process for Nebraska.

My dream coach for Michigan is not so much a name as a particular set of skills
A particular set of skills; skills he's aquired over a very long career?  Skills that make him a nightmare for other coaches?  If we let him win now, that'll be the end of it?  He will not look for or pursue other victories?  But if we dont, he will look for us, he will find us, and he will kill us?

Just about anyone would look good at AU now considering the current situation, but no players would have ever given up on Pat Dye like they did this past year on the plains.

Earlier on this thread, someone said "anyone but Miles".  I don't know if that poster was an LSU fan or not - no favs listed.  However, I have questions for LSU and _ichigan fans.

Right before the start of the SEC title game, Herbie tried to break the news in 2007 that Miles was leaving LSU for scUM.  At that point in time, LSU was sitting at #7 in the BCS polls.  Missouri was #1 and West Virginia was #2 - all they had to do was win their games and they would have played for the title.  If only one of them had won, they would have played Ohio State.  Instead, both Mizzou and WVU laid eggs in their games and LSU won the SEC title.  The Tigers jumped WVU and Missouri, idle Kansas and idle Georgia, as well as VA Tech (who won the ACC), vaulting 5 teams to get into the title game.

Here's my question to Tiger fans.  Do you think that, if WVU or Missouri had won their game that night and LSU had finished #3 (outside the title game), do you think he would have left LSU for _ichigan?  There's no way he was going to leave when he was playing for the national title.  But would he have stayed if they hadn't gotten the shot?

And Skunkweasel fans - would you have wanted Miles to be your coach if he had been available?

Win for your taste in women! Since White Mamba has already stated the obvious choice of any Duck Fan... I'll add in Urban Meyer. Similar offensive scheme, great recruiter, knows how to beat the SEC, and the added bonus that tOSU would be much worse off.
