If College Teams Were Stocks

February 12, 2013 4:38 pm

This is how it works we are assuming that CFB Teams are stocks that can be traded on an exchange you have to put a buy, sell, hold or pass
on that team. For example here are some SEC Teams (since I am most familiar with them):

Alabama – The stock
has tremendous value but how much higher can it go? This is a stock I would recommend to those getting close to the age of retirement they are not going to get huge gains but it will pay a nice dividend – Hold

Auburn – They won 3 games, none in the SEC, replaced the entire coaching staff and had a Top 10 recruiting class. This stock is currently undervalued and has had historical highs in recent years – Buy

Texas AM – If you bought last year then you made out like a bandit this stock soared like crazy but the ride might be over. The team is replacing key offensive line positions and is too reliant on a single player – Sell

LSU – They will be in the mix for SEC titles year in and year out but they seem to stumble at least once a year. If you bought this stock years ago then you might have maxed out on the gains – Sell

Ole Miss – This is the hot stock with a flashy new offense and a monster recruiting year behind them. The only problem is that they play in the blood bath that is named the SEC West so don’t get caught up in the hype – Pass

Tennessee – New coaching staff but a disappointing year in recruiting and record recent deficits in the Athletic budget make this a very
risk property – Pass

Ok now you have the idea let’s see what you got.

Oregon is NIKE stock and I want IT ALL!!!!Laughing

Alabama is WALMART stock... The biggest and baddest company on the planet... We can tease em for being WalMart (bama) but they will still kick your butt and have a higher gross earning (crystal footballs) than anyone else...

I sell Bama. Just not much upside left. Pretty easy one. I would put on the pairs trade between Auburn and Bama. Long Auburn, short Bma

Probably why I dont do good (or havent as of recently) in the market, is because I let my emmotions get involved! I would hold LSU because they have been so close to splitting, but just a few small insignifigant items always seem to make them fall just short of the high yield dividends.
I would probably go to jail for having inside trader information!

You must be a broker WT! I gamble at the casino, usually on the poker table and BJ table, I loves me the excitement and long odds I can get at the Craps table though!

Stock Market is a thinking mans form of vice that I just dont have the patience for!
I have a few long term ones, that some would consider blue chip, I just consider them safe AND BORING! It makes the wife happy though, they are steady, not too much more than banks IRAs.
She got a good bit from the workplace( a co in La, that has held a patent on shrimp processing machinery world wide for over 40 years)
It is doing the best, VERY WELL I might add, but that was a NO BRAINER and wasnt selected by me (OR HER)

I scored real big one time about 20 yrs ago, put a fair amt of money(when I used to have it) in a RACE TRACK in NEW JERSEY.
Bought in around 2.50 sold at over 6 bucks, then the bottom fell out! I felt soooooo smart! never did anything like it again, with the exception of MY BUYING PRECIOUS METAL, I highly reccomend that. My dad, who was a dentist knew a lil something bout gold & silver, he got me into investing. I NEVER EVER LOST! HIM EITHER! Cant say same about any other stocks or commodities.

I really cashed big on STRUCTURAL ALUMN ingots 1 time! I really have only had a few real good deals, the rest marginal!
