sounds like kelly and heyward-bay might have to restructure their contracts or be released this coming from rotor world.

[Tommy Kelly] - DL - [Raiders]

The Contra Costa Times considers Raiders NT Tommy Kelly an "obvious" release or restructure candidate.

The Raiders are right up against the expected $121 million cap despite having one of the league's worst rosters. They could free up roughly $10 million in space by parting with Kelly and Darrius Heyward-Bey. We expect both moves to be made.Related: [Darrius Heyward-Bey]Source: [Contra Costa Times]Feb 12 - 4:31 PM

And yet people keep saying the salary cap is looking good? Cmon man...Al Davis dropped a duece and didnt bother to flush or turn the fan on. Expect more short term, 2nd chance type contracts just to fill out 53. (Kid from 6th sense) "i see dead...money"

No matter how much we restructure contracts we are still seeing dead money even with Carson that set us back for the decade, we should be able to put a young mid talent team to grow and develope for the upcoming years and some vets to lead the way still though

We are in much better shape then last season in terms of the cap. Go by the numbers not slogans.

Kelly is an over the hill overpaid overrated retread. He needs to be gone cap situation or not. These over paid elites at the top are clogging our space. Very easy for us to trim the fat when its actualy few players hogging all the space. If it was spread out throughout the team more evenly we would be in bigger trouble.

Im glad the few taking all the space are mostly over the hill and underperforming players we neeed to swtich out anyhow. This is easy.

And if we use the draft and get young in free agency tho0se players cost verry little compared to veterans. So lets load up on young guys if we are "rebuilding". This is not complicated.

We'll cut Bey and bring him back on the cheap. Nobody else wants him and we have too many holes to fill to start creating new ones. Whether you like him or not, he's a solid starter in light of who we have in house at the moment. Now if he doesn't want to take a big paycut (no way we should restructure his deal) let him walk.

I said the salary cap was 'great,' not 'good.'  Get it right.

How could seeing these two guysgo away be losing anything? They do not produce! Especially not at the rate they are paid - absolutely astounding what Al was thinking - no part of the rational formation of the brain could say these two were good let alone multi-million dollar contracts.

RRRRRRRRRg!

As to bringing Bey back - no problem. He blocks well, and could probably return kicks and run the occasional slant so he can catch yet another ball without using his hands. Wow!

See ya!

Yeah you're right, Pueblo. He only leads the team's WRs in receiving yards for the past two years and had the closest thing to a 1,000 yards we have had in nearly 10 years. If the Raiders had Wes Welker they would probably send him on deep fades too. Bey should be in the slot creating mismatches with LBs and nickel backs. He isn't a number 1 receiver, but if we cut him someone will figure out what we cannot seem to understand: the guy is big, fast, and can make things happen when he has the ball. Yes, the deep ball is not his game, but there is a lot of ways to use a guy like that underneath so guys like Moore and Ford can get upon over the top. And since we are most likely moving to power run, downfield blocking with be huge.

But I could see why you would want to let him walk when you could cut him, get him back on the cheap, and use him properly. (facepalm)

I agree Peppy and Pueblo, the teams that seem to be there every year ( pats, pack,) draft very well EVERY YEAR , and use the young guys for a few years then keep em movin !! Always refillin and stocking up on the draft, the QB is paid well as should be, but almost all others ( besides the o-line ) are youngens gettin paid low salaries. Not Seymours, Beys, Kellys, go Raiders!!!
