BWAAAAHHHH!!!! That is irrelevant? But Tomlin walking two guys to load the bases before getting the coldest hitter on the planet to ground out, IS relevant?

In a word, yes.
Leaving Pedro in to face Posada was the wrong play, no matter the outcome.
Sometimes a guy hits on a hard 17 and the dealer hands him a four. That doesn't mean it was the right move.
Posada's bloop was the equivalent of being dealt a five in that situation. I'm supposed to forgive him because he only busted a potential winning hand by a little.
You seem to be ignoring that Pedro has 118 pitches on his arm when Posada steps up to the plate.Which is why I probably would've taken him out unless it was an extraordinary circumstance like my teams entire season was on the line
Mariano doesn't pitch 3 innings at a time. Sometimes you do things you might not normally do in extreme situations
Ticked me off that he didn't challenge Doug Strange on ball 4.
me too. still bothers me. not as much, since there was ya know a dynasty that came after that, that Cone was a big part of...but still pisses me off to this day, Jeff
He induced a simple bloop. That bloop was no more likely to become a base hit if it was off of a completely gassed Pedro than if it came off a fresh Pedro.
So no, I don't think those 3 ropes was a good indicator of what ended up actually happening on Posada's at bat

idiotic
giving up three ropes to the first four hitters is not indicative of potentially giving up another one to a good hitter?

Of all the many pitches and arm angles that Cone threw, he chose a pitch that is 99% of the time, a ball, if taken. So, it was pretty much ball 4 when it left his hand.
Can we all agree that if your 34 year old, first ballot, cy young pitcher is gassed on pitch 101 in game 7 of the ALCS, he is over brady'd!?

He was 31...
Pedro is the best pitcher I've ever seen...but his later years? He couldn't go deep in games...
Batters hit .215 against him in 2003, 100+ pitches? .298 BA against (very hittable) Grady got fired for ignoring that fact...it started when he let him start the 8th, the mistake was exacerbated with every batter he left him out there to face...
