Nerlens Noel update...torn ACL & MCL

I surely hope the reports are wrong, but information is now coming out that Nerlens has torn his MCL and ACL. Beyond horrible. This kid deserved so much more than this. He's the heart and soul of this Kentucky team. I just hope that he can fully recover and have a solid career in the NBA.

I have searched every Kentucky website all day long I have been surfuring waiting to hear how he is doing. Where did you hear this??

I see it now...ESPN is reporting torn ACL not MCL but he is still out for season. This is always coming from Andy Kats twitter guys..

CBS Sports is confirming it, as well as a press release from UK. Just horrible. I could care less about what happens to the UK team now, whether it's the NIT or they regroup and make the NCAA. I just hope that Nerlens has a full recovery. However, it does make you wonder if he returns next year. Recovery time is 6-8 months, which would put him right on target for Big Blue Madness.

Man, that sucks big time. Hate that for this kid, the school, and the fans. Hope he has a successful recovery.

And risk another injury without getting paid?  I doubt it.  NBA GMs are the biggest morons on the planet, but even they would have a difficult time overlooking TWO knee injuries. 

Call it wishful thinking more than anything. He'll still get drafted very high, will rehab on the NBA's dime, and will be ready to play NBA ball come November-December.

I was watching the game last night with a couple uk fan friends and that absolutely made me sick. I feel so bad for the kid and hope he recoers quickly.

Noel will not be back to uk after this season. You can pretty much count on that. Once he rehabs he will head straight to the NBA draft. There is no reason for him to risk another injury before getting paid. In the words of Jase Robertson from Duck Dynasty, "He gone!"

Valum, you don't remember Brandon Rush tearing his ACL before the 2007 NBA Draft and returning to Kansas to lead us to the 2008 title? I think it is a very high probability that Noel retuns to UK next year. They have enough scholarships available and he could certainly use the continued development.

I feel bad for the kid. Those types of injuries are ones you can come back from, but it can leave you more susceptible to other knee injuries. I wish him the best of luck in recovery.

Sorry Kentucky fans, I hate hearing about injuries.  Easily the worst part of the game.

Rush was a statistical outlier. Noel has played his last game for Kentucky. The NBA drafts on potential, not how good a player looks balling on college (unfortunately). He is still a lottery pick, so I expect him to take the money and run. It's possible he stays, but I would be very very surprised.

Nerlen's and his family has a very big life decision to make in the next couple months. I agree with another poster that it is probable that he comes back. Us True Blue fans want the best for him and if he makes his dream come true for the NBA this year. I hope he goes for it. The NCAA stuffs there pockets on these young men(as well the universitys)anyway!
      On another note the Florida fans were very classy and so was Young, who tried to help Nerlens. Billy Donavan is class and so are his players. Cheers all around to them!

No way he stays... if he got hurt again on the same knee his career and money would be lost.

He is doing the right thing by staying positive, driving positive PR... take the money.  If he hurts it again at least he will have money.  If he stays in school, he may end up a bank teller like that receiver from Bama who had the nasty broken leg...  

Dude needs to gain some serious weight. He will get pushed around in the NBA.

In other Big Blew news ; Basket Weaving 101 has reported an unexpected opening. The kid will be fine. Now Smitty's self esteem and self-image are the one's that will suffer.
