Rose or Bynum?

If you had to put money on it, which star do you see returning to game action first?  As much as I'd like to see Rose make a healthy return for a Playoff run, I could still see the Bulls going the route Phoenix went with Amare in '06 - Bring him back for a few games for him to get some reps in and then shut him down again to avoid disrupting team chemistry.

no one can predict injuries, and you don't wish it upon him  ... but you have a injury streak especially to his knees, eh
I hope he does come back, man ... I have this wierd feeling if he leaves the NBA, he'll go through his money so quickly, the personality or the intelligence isn't there to go into any broadcast - he better start saving money quick, the longevity is seriously in question, since he's a big - if you have Greg Oden potentially coming back, you never know

I'm picking Rose, I get the set back but the kid has the work ethic and mentality to get back

For this year, I do think Bynum plays - Rose might in the playoffs

Considering the news this morning that Rose indicated he may not play at all this season, I'd go with Bynum. I wouldn't go the route of playing some a few games only to shut them down again. That seems a bit risky. It wouldn't surprise me if both don't play a single game this season.

I'd have to say that neither look in good shape to make a return to game action anytime soon. And even if they do, it's hard to imagine either having much of an impact on this season.

The problem with that is the fact that he's in a contract year.  Not playing would really hurt his stock and likewise, the Sixers have a big decision to make.

For those reasons, I'm going with Bynum.  I hope both players come back soon, though.  In my fantasy league, I made a gamble by acquiring Bynum in hopes that he'll come back late for my championship run.  Also going to Detroit on April 7th for a Bulls/Pistons game and hoping Rose will be ready to play by then.

The worst part is it's degenerative ... it won't EVER get back to full strength

At one point during the discussion, Bayless said that a source inside the Sixers organization told him that the most recent MRI on Andrew Bynum’s knees showed "degeneration," meaning in effect that they will never return to full strength. Bynum was also a [no-show in the locker room] prior to Tuesday's game, when he was scheduled to give an update on his condition.

Bayless continued by explaining that Andrew may show some flashes of the dominance he displayed last season, when he averaged 18.7 points and 11.8 rebounds per game for the Lakers, but he will be unable to sustain it, as the knees will never be able to fully recover.

The Lakers should give the 76ers some sort of refund ...
I don't ever want the "youth" of the league being injured since they will be the cornerstones of the league in a few years (depending on the player of course) BUT at some point, the more wear and tear on the knee - it might be time to hang it up not for the season but for the career.  I don't care if I make a ton of money, it would just go to the person pushing the wheel chair because you can't walk.

Technically - this isn't necessary because every team carries a specialty workers compensation insurance policy on each player. The bottom line is the team is not out any money because the insurance pays the bill until the doctors say Bynumb can play. Now in the Tracy McGrady situation - the doctors said McGrady could play, but McGrady was healthy but a healthy bum. Bynumb is really an unhealthy Bum - lol

The 76ers haven't lost any money though since Bynum was covered by the insurance co

I don't know of any Laker player who's entire body is breaking down - Who are you referring to?

I understand Bynum.  He is in a contract year and not yet healthy.  He has got to think of his future and not this year.  Esp in Philly.

I have a tough time with Rose however.  As much as I try to support the player, I cannot support his refusal to come back due to mental reasons.  Chicago has a shot to win a championship with Rose.  I think he is refusing to play due to his brother's thinking Chicago didn't put enough on the court for him.  I'm unimpressed with Rose and I think he is making a mistake here; putting himself and his own selffishness before the team.

In situations like Rose, I feel the team should be able to withhold his monies if he is cleared to play and does not (sorta like Arenas did a while back).  If you can live up to your contract, you should.

Dont you think that he would just hurt his team if he came back before he was ready to play? At the pro level the game is about 90% mental.  If he is questioning his ability to contribute becasue he afraid he will re-injure himself trying to compensate.

My response:  Suck it up and be a man.  Period.

If you are healthy, you should be ready to play.  No excuses.

Confidence comes with playing the game.  Not sitting around crying about your confidence.  You are in the NBA making millions, how is it that you are not confident?

I thought he had an ACL tear, not his cajones removed.
