Those Rams teams were as soft then as the last few editions of the Pats have been now.  And soft teams don't tend to fare well in the postseason.
Pretty much. The Rams then are the Patriots now

Put up gaudy regular season numbers, and then when the level of competition goes up in the playoffs, they lost to a lot of teams they should've beat, and squeaked by a lot of teams they should've mopped the floor with

Are you saying BB is a dummy?

So which team is more significant?  The Sox or the Cardinals?   Seems like a lot of people would like to talk about the Sox and aboslutely no one wants to talk about the Cardinals

This is pretty simple but not surprised you don't have the capacity to figure it out.

By and large this board is made of Northeast fans. So to those fans northeast teams are more significant. To the entire world of baseball, the Red Sox are about as significant as the Astros. They are both last placed teams coming into the 2013 season. Even in the AL East they are less significant than the Yankees, Rays, Blue Jays, and Orioles...in that order.

But in a group of people that live and die to hate on or love on the Red Sox, they are VERY significant.

The verdict is that the employer makes the rules and that's how it goes.  I didn't want to get drug tested for my job.  I didn't want to have to do continuing education.  I didn't want to have get certified.

.............

and lets not act like the owners would be ridden of the chance to "make the rules"

if the owner thinks a guy is too much of a risk because he is 18 instead of 19 or 20 (laugahble at best btw) than he does not have to draft him and the player will drop in the draft.

Losing the best tackler in the last 10 years was a huge hit to the heart, soul, and success of that defense. The Patriots cheated though. It is well known.

Why do you think there's a disproportionately large number of northeast fans on this board?  Is it possible that Yankee/Red Sox fan bases are larger?   Or is it because you St. Louisians forgot to pay the phone bill so you could log on with your AOL account?

To the entire world of baseball, the Red Sox are about as significant as the Astros.

Please give me a quantative analysis of this.

Bump for an argument that NYYFan conveniently ignored...
--------

i ignored because it is stupid

your welcome to the rest of the board

so if the NBA lifts the rule...owners are FORCED to take an 18 year old kid?

If they want the player? Yes.. they are... Even if they know the player isn't going to be worth a damn for three years, if they WANT him, they have to draft him, pay him fat first round money and let him shine a seat with his ass for a few years before he's ready to play.
.............

still the owners decision, ultimately the market will fix itself on that

That's just the thing... They are not perfectly qualified... At all.. Most high-schoolers who went straight to the NBA barely see the floor for a year or two at a minimum. But they are paid that fat first round draft pick money... Just for the pure potential of what they COULD be if their game grows to match their athletic ability.
............

you just explained most rookies for most pro sports teams, no mater how many years of ameteur ball they do or don't play. well done...now realize that helps my argument, not yours

This is the owners league. It's their business. They have no obligation to hire anyone they don't want to.
......................

then they don't, it really is that simple

Population/NorEasterners ability to run cowards off of the board for disagreeing with them.

Red Sox were in last place out of 5 Lastros were in last place out of 6.

Both teams suck, but one spent nearly 3 times more than other in order to suck and end up in last place.

What is worse being in last place and spending 173 million or being in last place and spending 60 million?

I am ok with them equally sucking.
