Mayock: Warmack,College football's best player.

February 14, 2013 6:55 pm

NFL Network's Mike Mayock stated on the Rich Eisen Podcast that Alabama OG Chance Warmack is the best 2013 draft-eligible prospect he's seen on film.

"The best player I've seen on tape is the guard from Alabama, Chance Warmack," said Mayock. "Now he's not going No. 1, but he's the best football player (in the draft)." Mayock expects the 2013 draft to be heavy on offensive and defensive linemen in the first round, because they are the strength of the draft. Warmack is also Rotoworld draft analyst Josh Norris' top-rated 2013 player.

The million dollar question: Is Millenhew going to stick to BPA? Or are we going to find out that BPA was all BS to begin with? Hard to say he isn't one of the few elite players in this draft. Almost top 5 in everyones big board.

Remember his BPA strat means exactly that.  His BPA might not be Mayock's.  So keep that in mind.

Mayock's can't miss pick Aaron Curry from a couple seasons ago will tell you that he misses as well.

Yeah, I am not trying to say Mayock is the end all,be all. However, any of us who watched college football last season or the championship game knows that Warmack dominated all who came in front of him. I saw him miss one block only and that was on Jarvis Jones. I'd rather go DE but it will be hard to say Warmack isn't one of the top options, even at #5.

That means Jarvis Jones is the pick.

Cleveland, Arizona, Buffalo and the Jets draft in order after our pick. All 4 teams need a QB.

It would be ideal if either the Jets or the Bills swapped picks with us so they could move in front of those other teams and get the guy they want.

Warmack at #8 or #9 would be better than grabbing him at #5, imo...

With the Lions restructuring tiny dancer, I would be willing to bet that Nagy moves to guard for 2 years in place of Peterbum.  Reiff goes to RT and Backus to LT and Cherilous probably gets more money somewhere else unless Backus hangs it up, in that case the Lions would pay him and move Reiff to LT.

What I am getting at is that the Lions probably will not draft OLine with the first pick.  Too many holes on defense.  Noone left on the defense other than Tulloch and Suh.  All the remaining starters are either gone or FAs.  I would be surprised if we draft any offensive players in the first 4 rounds.

Yeah, I wouldn't be angry if they went all defense. Need upgrades on all levels of the defense. Specifically DE,WLB and S.

Old Lion, calling it right now... Lions take Mingo at #5.

Thats a very good possibility.  I like Ansah better.  Watching some film the last few days and Ansah is a factor on almost every play.  I have not seen that in anyone else.  I think Mingo and Jones ( now that he got medical clearance) are possibilities.  I though Woerner would be the guy at one point too.  I could live with any of those 4, but Ansah has Suh like effect.  Imagine those 2 together and then throw in Fairly.  They might have to leave the 4th lineman unblocked, LOL.

I really like Ansah a lot too.  What I would  love the Lions to do is trade down a few spots and pick up Warmack then trade up again and get Ansah. Even if it means using a 2014 1st round draft pick.

I look at all these rookies and think 'is this guy the real deal, is this guy?' But with Warmack I don't have that. As much as I want a DE, I hope the Lions take Warmack at #5. Trade down if you can, but if not, take him anyway.

Do you have a toaster oven? just a few seconds in there will suck some of the moisture out. Conversely, if it ever gets too dry, just a little chunk of orange peel tucked in the bag will have it hydrated again in a couple of hours...
