Meet the new Boss...same as the old Boss !

February 16, 2013 12:50 pm

There is a new Sheriff in town !  Uh...no...actually just another deputy.  Seems he just another hire for the force too as all the other deputies were retained.

Cam Cameron was announced as LSU's new Offensive Coordinater yesterday.   He replaces Coach Studrawa in that position.  Was Coach Stud let go ?  Nope !  he simply moves to offensive line coach.  Even Coach Kragthorpe remains on LSU's payroll.  Steve Kragthorpe will move to an off-field administrative position.

Coach Cam was asked in presser what type of offense would LSU play under him and he replied “LSU style” !   Well gee....isn't that just the type of offense he was hired to change ?  If he wants to continue run, run, pass, punt...why is he even needed ?

He was also asked about playcalling.  Would he have the freedom to call the plays on offense.  He said that play calling is always a team effort and that the head coach has a vision of how a game needs to be won.  Oh brother.  We are in trouble !

Next he was asked if he would have the "chest" to stand up to Miles when Miles was wrong...he said "we're all in it together. Brothers fight like brothers sometimes, but we all know what's the most important thing.”

Yeah...even if big brother is notorious for being a block head !

Then Miles had this to say when asked if Coach Cam would be on the sidelines or in the press box.   Miles said he would prefer Cameron to be in the press box but that it would be Cameron’s decision.  Let's just see where he ends up being when Miles says what he wants to begin with !

I'm sorry if I don't sound excited about Coach Cam coming on board...he seems to be a friend of Miles from their time together on the Michigan coaching staff for seven years from 1987-93.  He needed a job and his friend helped him out.  He has a lot of experience in the pros and college so he may well help LSU develop a good offense.  He should help with recruiting at the very least.

But I am kind of worried that Miles wants another "yes" man on the squad.  Seems Miles is loyal to a fault.   He can't let people go.  No matter how bad they perform their duties he sticks with them...be it QBs or OCs.

What you guys think of all this ?

Here is something Coach Cam said that scares me...  Talking about Mett and he makes this comment:

That will be the first thing that we will do. There may be a case when you have five quarterbacks. Very seldom you will have five guys that can all do the same thing. I think you owe it to your offense to allow the quarterback to do the things he does best when he's in there.

 What ? Foot in mouth

LSU is famous for trying to play a 2-QB offense.  Now this guy is talking about adding another 3 ? Yell

Holy smokes !

The key to it all is will he be able to develop a QB. He seems to be able to do that judging by how Brees and Flacco are now Super Bowl winning QB's. Thats really all he needs to do b/c if he can the QB will be the driving force in the Offense. Even if Miles calls a stupid play the QB can audible out of it and maybe call a successfull play himself.. Flynn did that quite a few times in 07 and you see where it got them.

LSU was a good QB away from a NC dynasty over the last few years. Just think of what they could have done if they had a really good QB. If they can get one, Look out!

Just think of what they could have done if they had a really good QB
LSU won 2 NCs in my lifetime and I wouldn't say either time their QBs were "really good" !

Good...but not "really good".  Tongue out

So there is hope...always hope !

If you guys had had a good QB you would have run off a 4-6 straight NC's dynasty. It wouldn't have been just two. And that was my point.

TD only time will tell about CAM!

...............but i do like his response to what he intends to concentrate on the 1st year(and it is no secret)

#1 Passing game and working with QBs ( notice did not say Mettenberger) He indicated he will play best player and thru jamarcs R andJordan J., Miles' coaches did not always do that on O.

#2 Concentrate on playing and using each player in a scheme that fits that player. In other words, not having a Jordan Jeff. throwing the ball downfield from a pocket when he was a roll out, running style QB(he will employ his version of a spread, despite what others think they know)
He wont be having Mett. roll out I promise you(not unless its one of the mad hatters trick-plays) The O will be more WIDE OPEN and LESS PREDICTABLE, I do believe. (at least thats what he is saying)

Um....That may well all come to pass but we've heard they were going to open the play book before.

Why is Stud still hanging around ?  He was in Cam's spot....now he is going to just be a team player and go along to get along ?  Foot in mouth

Maybe Stud never wanted the OC job to begin with....if so, why wasn't someone else hired long ago ?  Foot in mouth

If Cam is in control of the offense why would Miles make a point of saying he would perfer he stay in the press box ? Foot in mouth

The answer to all these questions is because Miles wants all control.  He's to dumb to know he's too dumb to have all that control !

Look, I know all about all the wins Miles has at LSU.  I know he is a great human being.  Loves the kids and all.

What I also know is Miles is in way over his head.  Its not that he is "secretive".  It's just that he can't say what he is doing because he doesn't really know himself ! Laughing

He's clueless !   Unless he lets Cam run the offense, make the play schemes, play call and develop the offense as HIS experience has taught him....why have him here ?

There was a reason Cam had so many questions about what role he would have as OC here....Miles has a history of wanting to be HC and OC.    That is too much for any one man to take on by himself....way more than Miles is capable of to say the least.

yet Miles is not smart enough to figure that out.  His ego won't let him !

I have heard nothing but good things about Cam from Dolphins and Ravens fans. This guy is going to take you guys places. Just like he did with the Ravens! Wait.....didn't they fire him? Right....well, he did pretty damn good with the Dolphins, didn't he? Wait...they fired him after one season? Okay......there must be a silver lining here, somewhere........Right, i got it! He could go by Cam Cam, and that is fun to say!

TD,

Seriously, Miles is no dummy!  you are letting your emmotions and the opinions of others cloud your judgement!  There are scores of things I take exception to that the guy does(12K from up in NY cites the Ole Miss game when Miles threw jefferson under the bus, for not spiking the ball, IT WAS MILES FAULT NOT JJ) BUT, you must understand he is the BEST POSSIBLE COACH we can get at this time, without betting the house on an unknown, unproven, young coach who could easily do MUCH WORSE!

DO YOU REMEMBER the Curley, LARRY and Dinardo SHOW?  Worst period in LSU history, then came Saban and then MILES. Miles is NO SABAN, but he does better against him than any other coach in the country(Urban included)!

Miles recruits VERY WELL, not great but good enough. Plus he has integrity despite what all the SEC HATERS SAY!

If MILES lets Cam have the O like he has done with chavis and the D, MILES and LSU are set for GREAT THINGS! If not we are back in the 60s and 70s, like with Cholly Mac!  Good coach, won over 70% of his games, only 3-4 SEC champs and no NC!  Now he had some great talent, he also had to play BEAR, SHUG and Vaught every year. Miles has SABAN, SPURRIER and RICHT ,  give the guy a break, at least for a while!

RELAX MAN!
I am relaxed.  You need to relax.  I'm stating my observations of the man.  He does have a history here.   If you think Miles can't be replaced you are sadly mistaken.   You bring up Dinardo...he brought the "magic" back if I recall correctly.  He created more interest in LSU football when it was lacking.  His problem was he overworked his players during prep for games and he didn't instill enough discipline.   When Saban came on board he ended all players talking to the media.  He brought discipline to the program.  He also forced LSU to update the facilities and add to it to make it inline with the facilities other schools were using as recruiting tools.

IH makes some very good points about Cam.  He was fired in Baltimore for his conservative play calling.  Now all of a sudden he is going to be balls out ????  I don't think so.

I hope LSU does do great under this new OC.  But I am not expecting him to suddenly fix it all.  Why did Miles wait till after signing day to hire him ?   Wouldn't you want him to have the chance to express his ideas on who to recruit to fit the type of Offense he is hired to develop ?

Cam is coming to LSU with one hand tied behind his back.  Both the men who held his position are still with the program.  The guy he is currently replacing will be the OL coach.  Makes me wonder why Miles keeps these failed coaches around.  LSU's offense has stunk something horrible for at least a season...why keep the guy who was supposedly in charge of it around ? Probably because he was just a yes man.

We'll see if anything changes.  I'm not getting my hopes up anymore.  As long as Miles is HC it is not worth it.

Expect LSU to lose 3 games this year, @ Georgia, @ Bama and Texas A&M in BR.

td   as far as why stud is still  the o line coach is because that was always his job. he took o/c as well and last year the o line suffered when injuries occured as he was not able to spend all time needed with them. if nothing else I think this hire will freehim  to do his old job better and have a much improved o line giving Met more protection and Blue more and bigger running holes

I am going to say one last thing on the subject because YOU, IRON HORSE AND MYSELF HAVE NO IDEA AND ARE TALKING OUT OUR AZZ!

DO YOU OR HORSE REALLY THINK THAT BECAUSE CAM WAS FIRED HALFWAY THRU THE LAST SEASON WITH THE RAVENS, HE WAS NOT AN INTEGRAL PART OF THAT RUN, AND THE YEAR BEFORE, AND ...................................
.....

HOW MANY PRO COACHES HAVE BEEN FIRED MULTIPLE TIMES FROM POSITIONS THEY HAVE HELD!  It is a stupid measuring stick!

Thanks THE DUMMY, thinks he knows, but ONLY enough to PUT HIS FOOT IN HIS MOUTH!

He is supposed to be a fan of the school and team, we do not need anymore FAIR WEATHER fans.  I get as frustrated as anyone, I throw and break things during games. For that I am not proud, but when the excitement is over, i try to get hold of my temper, emmotions and judgement!
The last thing I want to do is hurt something I love!

I can excuse IH, he is not a fan and never said he was!  THE DUMMY portrays an LSU fan and to make it worse, I think he says he is a grad. or said he at least attended. I dont care if he did or didnt, a fan, is a fan! As a fan(particularly in college) you are married to your team. The last thing you want to do is embarass yourself or them and you are with them like a wife thru thick or thin!

Now I know why so many have put him, Buttshave, and Smiles in same boat!

Andy I tried to be nice to you but if you want to act stupid then I guess I'll remove the gloves.  You must have forgotten your silly history running with the crew and how silly you acted then.

I asked you then if you were dumb enough to believe your hero's lies then and you defended him for a while.  I then exposed that little chump as nothing but a little kid.

You claim to be in your 50's but act like a kid yourself.    I can have an opinion about my scholl and its coach on a sportsblog if I choose.    I don't need some dam "yat" telling me anything for sure !
