If they could drop down in the first round and acquire another 2nd rounder, they should do it. But to add a 3rd rounder even if it is packaged with another mid or late round pick? I wouldnt do it. Mayhew does not have a very good track record for picking up great players in mid or late rounds. If the talent is not top level talent in the first round, it is nothing more than a crap shoot for him to get lucky. But at least with the 2nd round, I have more faith he can get lucky than in later rounds.
This year's draft is supposed to be really deep at DE. Somehow I can see Mayhew trading down a few spots and getting an extra 2nd and then the pick will come in the first round and Millener would still be there for him. And he would pass it up for a DE even though he could easily get a really good one in the second. Then he would trade the two second round picks to move back into the first round and take a freaking WR. And for the third freaking straight season he would ignore the team's greatest need! lol
I think they have to trade down (If possible). Adding another pick or two in the top 120 picks is huge.
Even if it's a 3rd and 4th rounder to move down a few spots. Those are where you get your #2WR(Stedman Bailey) or speed back such as Kenjon Barner. An extra third could net us someone like Kasheem Greene of Rutgers and upgrade the LB core too. An extra safety like DJ Swearinger could be picked up in the 3rd/4th range.
Not all-pro guys, just solid players that make your stars look even better.
I do believe that we get a 4rth round pick for Tampa signing Eric Wright, it will be at the bottom. We also recieve an extra 6th rounder as well. if all reports are correct.
