Status of Golf Message Board (per CBS Admin)

I sent a query to CBS admin concerning removal of "GOLF" from the top of the cbssports.com home page. This was the response I just got back from them today:  

The tab has been removed from what I can see. My understanding is that if the tab doesn’t generate enough hits it’s usually removed from the home page. This always takes place during off seasons or when a certain sport is not generating enough attention. But, when a big golfing event starts the page will be restored on the home page.

So, I guess what they are saying is, if they get enough hits on a tab no longer exists, they will restore it.   Seriously though, I suppose if we all access the GOLF tab under the "MORE" tab several times a day, perhaps that will generate enough hits to get us back on the "main" topics list. (I'm not holding my breath though). 

By the way, has anyone ever seen the NFL, NLB, NBA, etc tabs removed during the "off season"? I didn't think so!! And, they pulled Golf at the beginning of the season, just as things were starting to pick up, and a mere 2 months before the first major!! Of course, they do need room up there on the banner for HIGH SCHOOL and LOCAL, which I'm sure get way more "hits" than Golf does?

Pretty obvious that there is less action here recently, even with the beginning of the season, so the explanation in general makes sense.  NFL/NBA/MLB are the most popular sports and generate year round intersest.....unlike golf which doesn't have quite as much going on in the "offseason".  High School is wierd to see but there are a ton of recruiting interest out there so it's not that surprising. 

My guess is the CBS explanation is complete BS.  Put it this way. How will numbers in the golf section increase if it's impossible to find?

Maybe it's the Chinese and they don't want any more of their folks leaving their country to play or even discuss golf!

I guess you'r getting the same as me? A smiling girl and a list of links to Gospel music etc?   Very odd?  It looks like it has been hacked big time , either that or a serious gremlin has  got into the system.

it's disappointing

you would think of all the organizations - cbs - one of the biggest supporters of golf next to tgc

would make a point to ensure that the golf tab remains on the homepage throughout the year...

yes it is a more quiet time in golf right now, and this is a fairly quiet board....but still, golf barely even has an off season...

it is one of the few sports that actually runs all year.

not to mention that we are talking about cyberspace here people....infinite space capacities...so who exactly are we jamming up?  if you want add nascar, thats fine...how bout reducing the font and simply adding another tab to click on?  why does one have to replace the other??  you call yourself cbs sports...then it is reasonable to assume that you should be accomodating all sports fans...and not on a sliding scale but in a fair way. 

Not sure if cbs realizes this or not - but their board format is both unique and ideal.

gc abandoned this format a while ago in favour of the vanishing news article style...you know, where you read an article and post on it, then 2 days later it is gone.

not sure about everyone else, but i actually enjoy being able to catch up on old threads once in a while.  

hopefully they will rectify this shortly and golf will reappear where it belongs....atop the cbs homepage.          

I agree.  It's pretty sad that a corporation as vast as CBS can't make the golf section accessible.  CBS are big in golf. It's a mission to find anything these days. 

I think the Vladster.....aka Baby/DimW....is paying off the tech that is responsible for the administration of this message forum. He'sitting in hs basement laughing his best sinister, evil chortle right now, as he enjoys seeing this board deteriorate by the week, yep, that's gotta be it, Baby/Vlad/Dim has to be behind this, somehow...... ;)

I see the glitch has been found.

it's the same explanation they give us everytime the site goes down (like now) that "we know of the problem and are trying to fix it...eventually"

But I think it was a lame excuse to get rid of the golf message board.
