Great advice suggesting going to a Columbus Blue Jackets game.  Either you can root for the home team Jackets or watch a real hockey team...anyone they are playing.

The best thing about going to a Columbus game...there are always tons of tickets available.

Grrrr. I want to have a face to face with the idiots who designed this site, give me the "Oops, that page isn't available" when I post, then give me the same post twice.

if you don't have a local team, pick an underdog. you will appreciate success that much more.

unless your 12 years old, or from Mars, then if you don't get hockey now, you probably will never. Sorry to say, but you should just stick to the cowgirls.....

Another thing about rooting for your home team of Columbus.  When they have success, and one day they will, you will get a chance to celebrate with the area and the team.  Example,  The Carolina Hurricanes won the Stanley Cup in 2006, I got a chance to get my picture taken with the Cup something I wouldn't have gotten if say I had been a Boston Fan when they won the cup being here in NC.  Also, there is a lot of pride in knowing your home town team has won.

The all star game will one day come to Columbus and when that happens once again you will feel a part of the team more than you would say if you were a Kings fan.  Why, because that whole weekend will be all about Columbus, the team, the city and the surrounding area.

Good Luck in your Choices and welcome to the best spectator sport in the World.  There is nothing like being live at a hockey game.

If Columbus picks in the top 3 this year, then they will have another bonafide superstar to watch for a few years to come.

They could be in the running for
Seth Jones
Nathan MacKinnon
or
Jonathan Drouin

The draft this year is pretty deep, so going with the more local BlueJackets then they should have a superstar... even though they gave up one this past year to Rangers. Not that the Bluejackets are going to be contenders anytime soon, but having a star does help with the interest.

Otherwise for entertainent value you could go for Penguins or Flyers.. those teams are not boring to most fans.  Their games can be barn burner offensive games so I would at least keep tabs on them.

Hater!! Why Alf, ths guy did nothing to you. LOL

To the OP., What city do you favor or enjoy visiting?  When you figure that out, IF they have a NHL team, research the players you would be rooting for and catch some games... live games are best obviously,.. and IF you by chance can skate,.. get your ass a stick, puck, gloves and get on the rink,.. THEN you will understand the rush hockey brings.

Obviously, I've been to Columbus. Other cities with hockey teams I've visited off the top of my head include San Jose, Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York/NJ, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Chicago, and Tampa... my favorite city of these is easily Minneapolis. (Most of my college friends live there).

The Wild have some interesting players and I was recently in Mpls to visit. The locals seem excited about the Wild- don't know if that's a cultural thing or what (they were big on "State of Hockey" stuff).

Personally speaking, right now I like watching the Bruins play. Chara is a really interesting guy. 6-9 hockey player is so bizarre to me. He is fun to watch, though. If I had to pick, I think I'd go some combo of Bruins-Wild-Blue Jackets in a 1A/1B/1C kind of way.

If you rank and root for the other 27 teams, you can't lose then.

For cryin' out loud...pick a team and cheer/support them.  It's not a life and death decision.

And really, no one cares.

No one pissed on my Cheerios.  It's snowing like crazy here and I'm cranky.
