Spags

March 3, 2013 11:29 am

So every so often I will Google Steve Spagnuolo to see what's become of him. No news, just the same ole stuff about being fired from the Saints and how some Eagles fans want him on the Eagles.

Has anyone heard anything else about the guy? It seems strange that he wouldn't be getting any interest at all. His success as a defensive coordinator with the Giants should warrent at least a phone conversation. The longer he stays on the market, the better I feel that the Giants couldn't pass him up and will offer him a position somewhere on their defense.

I know this seems like I am flogging a dead horse but doesn't anyone else find this situation a little strange?

The only thing I can think of stranger is that Perry Fool is still employed by the Giants. Two 30th ranked defenses in a row should warrant at least a spot on the unemployment line.

They have already proved they aren't smart.  If they were they would go ahead and hire Spags to be the D-Line coach.  He was in tune with those guys and would put some fire to Fool's azz.

I really doubt the Giants would bring him back.  Same reasons teams stay away from high wunderlic scores.  Coaches don't want players who are smarter than they are, and our DC doesn't want someone coaching under him who should have his job.

Hall this senile old man, today, don't even need to wait til he's retired. Unmatched coaching genius.

You can't have Fewell looking over his shoulder and I believe the Giants are giving him this year to turn things around and if they don't , they will fire him and bring in Spags. I thought Spags has been giving nothing but bad luck since he left. In St Louis, he had some of the worst talent in the league and in New Orleans, he had to work under the bounty gate situation which was impossible and the conditions were not fair to him. Like it or not, Fewell is here for next year but I don't see this defense getting any better so he most likely won't be here for long.
