If Jordan didn't give a damn, he'd keep his mouth shut.  Problem is: Jordan does care.  Even today.  He is more than a "competitor" he is obsessed with his ego.  Crazy, but true.

Jordan did more than anyone in his time; yet he can't let go.  It doesn't matter who is better or who isn't, Jordan won't believe anyone is ever better than him.  If Lebron win 7; he'll change his argument to rings in years.  LOL  Jordan is just that kind of guy.  I think it actually bothers him when folks say Lebron is the best and might be the best ever.

As for Hakeem vs Shaq, I'd go with Shaq.  Although you truly cannot go wrong with either guy.  Shaq was just a beast to contend with.

So what is it? Why can they be considered "better" than LeBron by you despite the fact that all of them combined haven't come close to accomplishing what LeBron has. Yet, for LeBron to be considered as good as other people he must actually equal or surpass their records?

I'm just saying - Lebron has not proven that he is equal or better then Michael Jordan - Lebron has only one championship - Come back when Lebron has done it more times. The multiple championships as a starter and leader of a good team says a lot about his character which has not been said yet. I do acknowledge, however that he has the potential  

im not talking about lebron being better than mj. he isn't, no doubt. im talking about your claims that Blake Griffin, westbrook and harden are better than lebron... for some reason you keep running from the question at hand by making obvious statements like mj is better than lebron. never said he wasn't. so back to my question, on what basis are any of the previously mentioned players (not mj) better than LeBron?

Well I'm 25 now, which as we all know is considerably older than the average age of this board.  Seen Jordan play for the Bulls in person, and pretty much own just about all of his NBA video series as well as all of the Bulls' championship videos.

sioux1976: I was there, which I believe was the first of many (battles) between Wilt and Bill Russell. no player intimidated or frusturated Wilt Chamberlain as Russell. Wilt was huge, and usually dominated the opposition..so how did 6ft 10 in Bill, by timing his blocks, and those posters, who state he had no support, are all wrong, Wilt (the Stilt) had great players, but the Celtics were better(team) offensive and Defensive, plus great coach: Red Aurback. So my opinion..Bill Russell (Goat)  not Michael Jordan.

I just really don't see how anyone can put Russell ahead of Wilt.  They played during the same era, and Wilt was visibly the better player as well as with statistical output.  The 2 most used theories on why Russell was better than Wilt are that Russell has won so many Championships compared to Wilt, which is using a team accomplishment to determine individual greatness, which just doesn't make sense.  The other is that people say that Russell always minimized Wilt's statistical numbers when they played each other.  I use the analogy that Hakeem Olajuwon was both better than Patrick Ewing and myself.  Hakeem would average ungodly numbers against me if I played, but Hakeem would average significantly less numbers if/when he played against Ewing.  It doesn't mean Ewing was better than Hakeem.. just better than the rest of the competition (me).  For those who can't take things so literally on here, it's an exaggeration to prove a point.  Russell was significantly better than every other center that Wilt went up against, but that, by just by reducing the huge numbers versus Wilt, doesn't make him better outright.

I really like seeing you guys debate Wilt vs Russell, can I throw Oscar Robertson into the mix. The guy was a great point guard. He averaged a triple double a game for a whole season.

Most folks put Russell ahead of Wilt due to championships; so we are at the same argument.  Yet, we all know Oscar had the all around game.  So who is to say he wouldn't have had the rings had he been in Boston while Russell was not.  That is the entire point when it comes to rings indicating a player as Goat.  It is a poor argument.

As for Jordan and joking about Durant; he was.  Jordan conducts himself in a way in which he believes no one is superior to him or ever will be and that to him; isnt' a laughing matter.  He can't pick Durant cause he has no hardware.  Right?  It is okay to support Jordan to no end if you like the guy; but at the same time; someone is always going to be better at some point.  Lebron might be that guy.  To me, Magic was the best ever and it wasn't due to rings.  It was due to his abilities; that there was nothing he couldn't do on the court EXTREMELY well in all positions.  I think that defines a player best.  Do they have the "all around" game?  Do they have leadership?Jordan to me was the best scorer of anyone in his time or prior.  So Durant may go down as the best scorer and maybe even supercede Jordan as Lebron will likely supercede Magic.  And in some day, Durant and Lebron will be superceded.  It is just how it all works.  Question is only:  will it happen in their lifetime.  I think that is what Jordan is hoping doesn't happen.  He wants to go to his grave with over half the world believeing he was the goat.  Ain't nothing wrong with dreams.

Well I admit that Lebron has been in the league longer and has some veteran experience that gives him an edge over Westbook, Harden and Griffin, so I will rephrase it - Griffin, Westbrook and Harden are atleast just as good as Lebron was when he had the number of years in the league as they are now and I believe they are better for the number of years they have been in the league in comparison to the Lebron's at the age. This is Griffin's third year in the NBA and he is definitely better then what Lebron was in his third year - that's what I am saying. I am sorry if that butt hurt your feelings though - but I am not a Lebron nuthugger - lol

Again.... based on what? Seriously? Definitely better than LeBron's third year in the NBA? LeBron's third year in the NBA he averaged 31.4, 7 and 7 as a 21 year old. Blake Griffin at 23 isn't even close to that. 

Also by the time LeBron had 4 years in the NBA he had led the cavs as HUGE underdogs to the NBA finals, and had numbers far superior to russell.

yes, im a lebron nut hugger because i debate with solid data and evidence why lebron is better than other players. that certainly makes me a nut hugger.

meanwhile you make your claims with no evidence. which is much more credible and legitimate. 

Personally, i don't look at stats either.  You know who the best players are by watching them, and judging their competition.  Kobe is lightyears better than anyone in the league right now.  He's got every one-on-one, finish and post move, and his fundamentals are superb.  He's easily got 10 more years in the league on Larry Bird's prime level.  He's the only true basketball junkie in the league right now.  Guys like Lebron and Westbrook rely so much on athleticism and strength, that their careers as elite level players are numbered.


If Lebron's clone guarded him, how good would he be?  Kobe beats guys more athletic than him on a nightly basis.
