Bigger 'botch job'

Here's the dumb semantics thing I will point out. Pats lost Welker. Dumervil's agent screwed up in the other scenario. Because of that, Pats obviously screwed up worse. Since the Dumervil thing can't really be blamed on the Broncos.

I don't think they screwed up, it's just how they operate. They put a value a player and don't budge. The list of players they've done this to is pretty long.

Won't matter to some. The Ravens do the same thing and this time every year I get to read about how the Ravens are done because they lost too many key people.

But Welker turned down more money to play for Denver according to Kraft. So this wasn't about money. It was about respect. And the Patriots screwed that up.

You did lose this big time. Dumervil is going to stay in Denver. So clearly, the Patriots screwed up more.

He called me stupid yet can't back up his claim.
If the shoe fits... Welker's $12 million is 100% guaranteed. So if they are going to pay him anyway, it makes no sense to cut him.

You could be right, but the cap hit's 8M in year 2. If Manning turtles in the post season as he's done the majority of his career, and they decide they need to go in another direction, the 8M might not be worth dedicating to the position.

You're saying it doesn't make it true, show me a link that disputes the one I posted.

You can't because it doesn't exist

Thank You

I think that in years to come we are going to find out that it was about a gay thing. We will have to wait until someone makes a dying declaration or writes a book though to find out.

The Patriots got a younger, faster, quicker, cheaper, younger, better looking Wes Welker
true and i like him, BUT do remember his injury history isnt very good. i do like the Amendola replacement though as if healthy (which i think he will stay) he's a young Welker. as for who's the bigger botch, it depends on who is at fault for what happened with the contract with Dumervil, but i feel that both teams will be fine.

Welker's knee injury is more likely to become an issue again than either of amendola's. injuries could become an issue but it's a risk you take.

agree jdm. i think personally it's just a risk, it's not much of a botch job to me, so i have no issue with their replacing Welker. if they lost Welker and didnt have a replacement then i would be scratching my head on that move.

I don't think either thing mentioned in the topic was anything wrong on the organizations' parts. They made the business decisions they felt they had to make.

Its a risk but danny loses 2.5 mil if he misses games

Patriots also smartly tied up $2.5 million of the deal in per-game roster bonuses, meaning injury-prone Amendola will have to stay healthy to get that money.

well again I started this because of the Donkey fan that went to the Pats board and posted (multiple times) about how the Pats botched the Welker thing.

They're donks fan's zig. We all know they're a little touched in the head. Poor saps are gonna gobble up another sparkling September-October and November and then cry their collective eyes out in December and January.

Peyton Manning + cold weather + post season = an ocean of tears come January.

Most of them disown that one. I know you know better, was a response to the post immediately above it. I can't quote because CBS can't take my formatting on an iPad.
