wow after seeing this I couldn't help but say that Nebraska caught a huge break. OSU PSU msu mu all in one division! We only get wisky nwestern wow big12 north all over again.

The setup is there for Bo and this team to be in the title game every year. Biggest threat badgers the east will beat itself up like old big 12 south.

The excuse will be harder to come by in the future.... If it holds up we got a cakewalk to Indy.

Sharp and Benning were talking about it this morning as its a great that we have such an easier path to Indy but I agree with Nut, this may hurt in the long run as far a recruiting and rankings. The football world will look at our division as a joke in comparison to the east. The only positive is that it will set up a great rivalry with Whiskey.

this is basically how bad do you wanna win vs the competiton you face.

if it stays like this nebraska will be favorite to win with only wisky/nwestern, meanwhile everyone outside bigten country will see our division has a cupcake while seeing the east as a beast with osu mu msu and psu even tho psu isnt what is used to be.

IMO we need to win out strong and leave no doubt not making to champ game, my biggest fear is the preception of the team if we dont make it on a regular basis. we lose psu as our cross divison rival and will pick up either mu or osu im guessing but still this is big12 north again and this means we need to take full advantage if it stays like this.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. This won't last long, maybe 3 years top. The B1G is going to keep adding schools, and soon enough, they will go into a set of four pods divisions. So, this is just a temporary alignment.

It sets up well for Nebraska. We finally get a scheduling break from the league now that we're not the new guy anymore.

But you have to remember that division games are not the only conference games you play. We'll still see Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, etc. in the rotation. We just won't see them every year.

And Wisconsin is no cupcake, even with a new coach.

So NE2WA it will be like the old big12 north days of who ducks the big dogs and who has the easier schedule rotation that year haha.

I like it a lot. If we were at the top of our games right now I'd say it'd be better to play a tougher schedule that wins "style" pts for the NC race but we aren't there yet. The best way to get over the hump and return to the top IMO is to build momentum by stacking up wins. This alignment gives us the best chance to do that along with making the BIG championship. And iron horse makes a great point...it most likely will change soon anyways.

I've heard rumors of big ten invading Acc again. Having best of both worlds basketball n football, I see UNC/duke or Clemson/FSU. It seems they want to get all kinds of new market  n those schools hit three different markets.

the scheme is easy. You get that NY money from Rutgers, and just travel down I-20. They will get a school from NJ down to Florida, and settle at a nice 20 schools.

Can you imagine bigten having roots in central plains Midwest mid Atlantic and down south 1-95. I hear acc is the next but I wouldn't be surprise if they take a peek at big12 ESP Kansas school. They would be a force in football and basketball and basically challenging the SEC in football and owning basketball .

oops, yeah, I-95, the hell is wrong with me. With the work I do, that was an unacceptable mistake. I feel like a jackass for that one.

I think they would go next to Virginia, and after that North Carolina, then South Carolina, follow by Georgia, and ofcourse that leads to Florida. At that point, I think that leaves one spot open, and I think that would go to Duke, or Vandy. I don't think they go to Kansas, cause that would mean getting both Kansas schools. But who knows, maybe in the future they just go to 32 and basically split all together. Become their own version of the NFL.

If this was going to go into effect with the BCS system in place then I think an easier path to the conference championship game would be nice.  However the playoff will be starting after this season and strength of schedule is a major consideration in getting into the four team playoff.  Nebraska's strength of schedule would be hurt by this allignment majorly.

Also, Huskers lose in travel as B1G expands. All expansion looks to be east, southest and south. Huskers to be the furthest point west.

I have mixed opinions about this alignment. It would be an easier road (not a sure thing) to the B1G Championship game and it appears that we may be hurt by an inferior schedule. On the other hand, you could argue that if you win the B1G Championship game, then who is in your division is basically irrelevant. You would have to presume that they would have won the other division had they been in it. I think we have to win signature games. Winning a lot is good, but if we keep losing the games that really count it doesn't matter. I think we won some marquee games, but the general consensus is we lose the tough games by relatively large margins. That has to be fixed first. Everyone loses sooner or later, but it's how you lose that makes a difference. You can hold your head up if you played hard and made a game of it. Anyway, that is a whole different topic.

This seems to be a fairly new thing at Nebraska. Well, the last 6-8 years maybe. I donlt recall many "massive" blow outs in the early 2000's, 1990's 1980's, etc. I'm talking 40-50 point loses.

I don't like the divisions.  I don't want an easier path to championships.  The more big games Nebraska plays the better.

However I do think the Big Ten will keep expanding and eventually things will even out so I'm not that worried about right now.

VFM 5 for the Northwestern mention. Guys the last two meetings between us have been classics! No doubt as long as Fitzgerald stays we have the coaching advantage....just some off season smack talk. I love playing a program like Nebraska year in and out....you guys have earned that respect.....I hope Fitz can do the same for us...
