Hello, Gang. I hope everyone had a good Christmas. The Giants have taken a lot of the luster out of my football season, but at least I’m doing well in the pick ‘ems.
Marty – here are my picks & predictions:
Jets @ Bills – Mark Sanchez is the starting QB of the New York Jets. What else is there to talk about? PICK: BILLS
Dolphins @ Patriots –Dolphins keep this close, but don’t have quite the team yet to upset the Patriots at Foxboro. PICK: PATRIOTS
Panthers @ Saints – The Saints defense is awful. The Panthers defense has improved. I’m rolling with the better defense here. PICK: PANTHERS
Buccaneers @ Falcons – I think that idiot coach of the Bucs just wore them out. Falcons continue to roll. PICK: FALCONS
Packers @ Vikings – Aaron Rodgers is just as hot as Adrian Peterson right now. I think the Vikings will be playing from behind a lot in this one, which means less carries for Peterson. PICK: PACKERS
Ravens @ Bengals – I think the Ravens over-achieved a little against a pathetic, lack-luster, heartless, soulless, gutless, spineless, worthless, useless, scrotumless Giants team last week. The Bengals will actually show up in this one and play some defense. PICK: BENGALS
Browns @ Steelers – Everyone keeps asking what’s wrong with the Steelers. Nothing’s wrong with them. They’re just not that good. The defense is old. The offense is old. They need more young talent on both sides. Still, they have enough left in the tank to take care of a Browns team with two banged-up QB’s. PICK: STEELERS
Texans @ Colts – The Colts will come out and play with some fire with Chuck Pagano back on the sidelines. Unfortunately, I think the Texans come out just as fired up; eager to prove that last-week’s lack-luster performance is not a sign of things to come. Texans lock up the #1 seed. PICK: TEXANS
Jaguars @ Titans – The Jaguars have been playing hard, and I think that continues this Sunday. They take advantage of an inconsistent Titans team that seems to have run out of gas. PICK: JAGUARS
Eagles @ Giants – The Giants simply quit. They’re playing like they don’t care, and don’t deserve to go to the playoffs. PICK: EAGLES
Cowboys @ Redskins – The Cowboys haven’t quit in any of their games. Gotta give that to them. But, the Redskins are on a roll and will run the ball to keep Romo off the field. Redskins clinch their first division title in nine years. PICK: REDSKINS
Bears @ Lions – The Lions keep finding ways to lose. Don’t see any reason why this game will be different. Jim Schwartz will have a lot to answer for this offseason. PICK: BEARS
Raiders @ Chargers – The Raiders are starting Matt Leinart. That’s stupid, and no – that’s NOT a knock on Leinart. They gave up a draft pick a couple of years ago to get Terrell Pryor in the supplemental draft. They’re not going to the playoffs. They gave up a draft pick for this kid. Why not see what he’s got? How does starting Leinart help them? Like I said – STUPID. PICK: CHARGERS
Chiefs @ Broncos – Easy win for Peyton & the Broncos; who head into the playoffs on a major roll. PICK: BRONCOS
Cardinals @ 49ers – Colin Kapernick and the 49ers will bounce back and clinch the division title for a second straight season. PICK: 49ers
Rams @ Seahawks – The Rams will play hard and keep it close, but no team in the league is hotter than the Seahawks. Kudos to Pete Carroll for the job he’s done. PICK: SEAHAWKS
I have had a lot of fun over the years, but now it is time for me to focus my attention on what truly is important...my beautiful wife, two adorable girls, and my work.
It's been real, it's been fun...hell even for a while it was real fun, but now it is time for me to go...adios amigos!!!
I can absolutely feel you on that. I am hardly on here as before due to MY beautiful wife, kids and work. But in no way shape or form am I ever going to forget my friends on here. You guys have kept me company through some of my darkest times. I'll be forever grateful.
Fred, you have been one that I have been especially fond of. I seriously doubt the GB10 has seen the last of you. Go....make peace and love your family and handle your business.
When your competitive juices get going and your itching for a fight, come back and get some cause you may won your championships but not by stepping on me! I whipped your candy ass from pillar to post every step of the way! You sorry bitch....lol....

Although he is crying for this week....as expected, Charlie clinched the top seed in the playoffs and is the regular season Top Prognosticator! Congrats to Charlie, he came on strong in the final weeks to nab the honor. My hats off to ya, Charlie! Job well done!!
Here is the final YTD leaderboard for the 2012 regular season:
1)z-Charlieinfl -- 168

Charlie, Meuse and myself qualified last week. Congrats to Raven, KC, SJ76, Scott and Ram....you made it!! I would also like to thank Val for her participation. She played valiantly but her failure to post her picks for the final week was ultimately her demise and thus she has been eliminated from playoff contention. Thanks again to Val and to all those who have already been disqualified from postseason play!
Ok, here are the rules for the GB10 Pick 'ems playoffs. It's simple really. Many of you are veterans of this competition but here is a refresher, if you will. ALL regualr season rules apply with a few exceptions: You MUST pick ALL 11 postseason match-ups. Failure to post your picks will result in your immediate dismissal from the games. All picks MUST be time-stamped no later than 1pm Eastern Saturday (unless noted otherwise). And this is the caveat: You MUST along with your picks submit a final score along with your picks for example:
Bengals @ Texans – Texans, 50-10
Vikings @ Packers – Packers, 42-21
Colts @ Ravens – Ravens, 23-17
Seahawks @ Redskins -- Seahawks, 65-31)Charlieinfl-- 10
2)Hawks4eternity -- 9
3)Ravenmaniac881-- 8
4)KansasComet-- 7
5)Sportsjunkie76-- 6
6)Meuse2win-- 5
7)Scott-24-- 4
8)Ramblion—3
The template for the Wild Card round:
BENGALS @ TEXANS –
VIKINGS @ PACKERS –
COLTS @ RAVENS –
SEAHAWKS @ REDSKINS --
Thanks for the accolades, Marty. After the rough start I had, I'm quite proud to win a contest with a bunch of other great football minds like myself.
Here are my predictions for Wild-card weekend:
Bengals @ Texans – The Bengals came on strong, but also blew a few games they should have won, and didn’t dominate in any particular game. The Texans, on the other hand, come into the playoffs limping; having lost three of their last four. The Texans are home, and I think they play well enough to survive the wild card round. PREDICTION: BENGALS 21 TEXANS 27
Vikings @ Packers – The Packers could not stop Adrian Peterson last week, but I think Mike McCarthy is too good a coach to let that happen two games in a row. Championship caliber teams step it up in the playoffs. I don’t think the Vikings are there yet. PREDICTION: VIKINGS 24 PACKERS 35
Colts @ Ravens – Andrew Luck doesn’t have the flash or pizzazz these other rookie QB’s have, and he doesn’t quite get the credit he deserves from the media, but the fact is the Colts are a 4-5 win team without him. The Ravens defense is below average, and the offense lacks the toughness and desire that the Colts have. The magical journey for the Colts continues. PREDICTION: COLTS 24 RAVENS 17
Seahawks @ Redskins -- Robert Griffin III is the more accurate QB and more naturally gifted athlete. Russell Wilson is the more intelligent QB with better game management skills. Who, what gives? I think it will come down to who stops the run better. There was probably no defense in the league better than the Seahawks down the stretch. Great defenses usually win playoff games, so I’ll stick with that mantra. PREDICTION: SEAHAWKS 21 REDSKINS 17
