nixon's domestic policies and many foreign policies were good.  His stupid treatment of Vietnam (kissinger more than nixon) and his paranoia was his downfall.  His allowing of dirty tricks and illegal actions also gave him reelection.

It seems to me that Gore adopted the mantle of purported Enviro-King Uber Alles...  and that is a bit off-putting, and easy enough to do when not in office.

the movie alone reached more people and opened more eyes than a thousand Presidential stump speeches. And as VP he was nuetered and unable to effect real policies, or even get hardly anyone to listen to him.

No if for no other reason Nixon rose from the ashes after his 1962 loss in his run for governor.  Factor in Goldwaters thomping/shellacking in '64, the GOP base was ready for "anyone" to take over the mantle.  That was a six year span.  Gore has been out of the loop for twice that long and while many of his causes are justifiable, many still don't even believe in global warning.  Hell, many Republicans still think the world is flat.

Gore's movie was powerful-  I thought at the time.  We saw it in the theater- but I think we saw Little Miss Sunshine and snuck into Gore.

You make some good points. But there are guys like Ed Begly, Jr.  My God!  He's a WALK THE WALK Enviro!  He probably wouldn't use toilet paper!  Guys like that-  they change everything.  Ride bikes.  Sell their house.  Build some solar enviro-dome, composting, growing his own food, etc.  That guy wouldn't be caught dead doing half the stuff Gore does!

It just seems like Gore is telling us little people what to do from on high, but not practicing what he is preaching. He kept his giant mansion and flies around on big jets...  and even out of office, and no stress....  rich and famous...  why is he a tub of blubber now?  Doesn't look parsimonious.  Looks like a glutton.  A slob.  Mind you he can have personal chefs, and trainers... sometimes his preaching alone does more good deeds than are erased by any of his own perceived faults, no matter their ocurrence or digressions. The Earth is a better place now that Gore has done what he has done and opened the eyes of more people about this sleeper issue than anyone who is alive right now.

As the economy straightens out from the nose dive, and staedies the ship- the Environment will become a bigger factor . It's what ppl talk abt on a daily basis.

Dore was wronged, he can get a lot of mileage outof that. A primary with Biden Clinton and Gore would be madcap fun and you can't try and stop it. Who wld even pay attn to the Repubs? Nobody.
