an institution of higher LEARNING...TEACHING and Shaping KIDS for the future, mostly from 17 -22 years old....you have a guy pushing, shoving, kicking, throwing things at, and verbally abusing HIS OWN KIDS, humiliating, degrading them and using offensive slurs ...and you as an AD, President, top reps of the school,  wouldn't look at that and immediately say, you're fired, I can't have you representing MY school in that way....as I said from the very beginning, failure at the top...

I already told you, Mr. Democrat.  They ran it by University Legal Counsel before they fired him.  Whereupon they were no doubt advised about the ADA, Americans with Disabilites Act.  Firing Rich, if he had/has a disability, would be ILLEGAL and a violation of the Act.

Why should the university have broken the law- btw a FEDERAL LAW- under whicha violation has a penalty of TRIPLE DAMAGES!


So if some childish person like you was involved, who wouldn't listen to the lawyer's advise on the law- which you have made clear is your position- If Rice won a a law suit for say ten million dollars for being fired even though he was "disabled," and he could have been offered re-hab, treatment, etc.- would amount to under the ADA- a PENALTY OF TREBLE DAMES!  THIRTY MILLION BUCKS!    Great choice, Einstein!

How did it save them money or impact the Big 10 move?  The move to the Big 10 was about football, not basketball, lol.  LIke you've been so fond of saying, the b'ball team wasn't any good.  Almost all the articles I've read on the move don't even mention basketball, those that do, only very briefly.  And it certainly seems like they could have fired the guy, played with an interim coach already on staff (because that's what they did during the suspension anyhow), and saved themselves some money on his salary.

Are you expecting me to have the real answer?  Maybe you really do think I was a part of the decision, lol.  I have no clue why they chose not to fire him - I could provide some guesses if you want.  Maybe they thought, while inexcusable, unacceptable behavior, it did not warrant termination.  Maybe they felt like the coach was due one additional chance to remedy his behavior.  Maybe they felt that substantial legal grounds to terminate were not available (I've read in some places that this is exactly what they were told by outside counsel, but that could be BS too).

We're talking about why people we've never met did what they did, and thought what they thought, about another man we've never met - that they certainly had.  That they knew quite well.  There are all sorts of other variables that could have been in play.

Not if you mean their move to the Big 10.  The move to the Big 10 was announced on 11/20/12 (and was known before that), the investigation into Rice may not have even begun then, and he was not suspended until 12/13/12 - not to mention that on Friday, the Big 10 formally stated that this will have no impact on Rutgers moving to the Big 10.  

In other words, it doesn't make sense to claim that he was suspended, instead of fired, to prevent something that had already happened from happening.
