The Islanders could have challenged, at least, for a Playoff spot last year if they didnt have that one prolific losing streak of 15 or so games. Haha,,,False...The Islanders finished the season 20 points out of the last playoff spot. Even if they had won half of those games during that impressive losing streak, they still would not have made the playoffs. You could say this about any team really, if Carolina had not lost 5 straight in early December, they would have been a playoff team. You cant just ignore one whole month of a season. The Isles are heading in the right direction, but that defense is just brutal. Streit is really good, but no respectable player wants to sign with NYI so Garth cant bring in free agents unless he drastically overpays them or unless no other teams wants the poor schmuck. Let's see how Montoya looks over an entire season before we all praise him further. Who knows what the Isles are going to do with Nabakov. But this team is still a bottom 5 team in the eastern conference until some of their younger guys full develop because they clearly arent bringing in players via free agency who will make any contribution. |

No, I just like watching hockey more than I like watching fight night. It's obvious that the Isels can't compete on the same skill level with the Pens (even with Sid and Malkin out) and have to resort to changing the games into brawls to compete with the Pens. Hopefully the Pens won't get sucked down to the level of the Isles' goons again this year. Also, I didn't expect anything less than that childish response from you, racecar. Guess that'll be the last time I offer the Islanders good luck. |
