1. It is easy to be excited about Kaepernick, but he really doesn't have to do anything for the 49ers to win.  They are the best running team in the league and they have the best defense.  He is a game manager with talent.  I think Newton has a much better chance of putting up a big number, although he has a slightly better chance of posting a dud also.  I would go with Newton.

2. Housler and Miller have horrendous starting QBs and are playing solid defenses.  Lewis has the match-up and the best QB.

3. Smith is head and shoulders better than options 3,4 and 5.  He needs to start.  As for the other choice, go with your gut.  They are all weak options, but are each capable of putting a good game together.

Good luck.

Guys, I had a rough couple of weeks. And it has nothing to do with FF. As you know, I'm a non-career postal worker. And the last couple weeks have been 6-days of late night mail delivery. So it was pretty much, wake up, go to work, come home, eat, sleep and repeat. Last week I worked over 66 hours. And on Friday, my supervisor tells me that I was one of 2 carriers selected to work the next 3 Sundays for parcel delivery. While the Sunday gig is only 4 hours, that doesn't erase the fact that I will be working the next 22 consecutive days without a day off.

Leaves little time for family, worship, personal down-time, and of course FF.

It isn't helping that my Mayans are ahead of schedule on the figurative "end of days." Looks like I may be with my buddy Sam in the Barbarian Conference for 2013. Foot-Nick too.

I had no time to set up my waiver picks this week. Would have been nice to try to get Garcon.

Sorry, but I have zero time to mull over matchups. So here's my picks for the week which is essentially a crap-shoot by looking at the league's "At A Glance" scores:

Doug apocolypses Joe
TKO doomsdays Scape
Fuzzy armageddons DUB
Lefty holocausts Treff
Sam Ragnaroks Dawg
Will end-of-days Foot

Of course, maybe instead of going on a mini rant, I could have looked at the matchups?

I missed our millionth hit too I see. Maybe you'll see me on these boards in the next 3 weeks? Maybe not.

One last thing. I saw the tragic story about the KC LB Jovan Belcher killing his girlfriend and himself. I would start any and all KC players against Carolina. It's in KC too. Games with huge emotional factors tend to be one-sided. If I remember correctly... Favre after his dad died. The Saints returning to the Superdome post Katrina pummeled a really good Vick-led Falcons team.

Good points Joe. Sorry to hear you have such a hard scedual coming up. You need a day off to detox and download all the crap of the week. One trick I learned is to sleep as much as posible. I mean going to bed at 7:30pm just so your mind can regain some strength or else your gonna be a little batty going into the home stretch of the relentless tour. Hang in there buddy.

I dunno. This is a weird one. The guy they lost murdered somebody... and then killed himself. I don't know how much I could get charged up for anything off of that. I'd just want to go back in time and talk him down.

And Joe, I never did let go of Garcon, so you don't have to worry about that one. And can't you just like drop the mail down a storm drain or something and call it a day?
