Personally, I'd much prefer them to go after Youkilis than to trade for one year of Young.  Currently, MLBTradeRumors has the Indians offering Youk 2 yrs @ $18 million versus the Yanks offering 1 yr @ $12 million.  Youkilis will still only be 34 next year and could probably be had for 2 years @ $20 million, and he'd likely provide far more offense and pop than Young and could slot either 3rd or 5th in the lineup quite nicely.  Defensively, it's probably a wash.

Regarding Revere, I really like that deal mostly because it means we didn't over-spend, money-wise, on the likes of Bourne or Pagan (although we probably over-spent in talent to get him).  However, I really hope they don't slot him straight into the 1 spot next year, he has almost no pop and I'd really hate to see him be guaranteed so many at bats without first showing that he can get on base (which is all that really matters for a hitter like him).  I'd rather see him at least start out in the 8 hole or, if you're EVER going to pull a LaRussa and bat the pitcher 8, this might be the perfect situation since some of our starters are not completely inept hitters.

The Phillies added minor league depth by signing 3 players with big league experience to minor league contracts.  RHP Zach Miner, LHP Cesar Jimenez, and C Humberto Quintero.

From 2006 - 2009 Miner was 25-20 4.24 with the Tigers.  He had Tommy John surgery in the summer of 2010 and has been working his way back through the minors ever since.  He was 2-0 2.50 with the Toledo Mud Hens last year.

Cesar Jimenez has pitched briefly with Seattle and Quintero caught in 43 games for the Royals last year.  It's not much but he could be the backup to Erik Kratz in April until Carlos Ruiz returns.

Michael Young accepts trade to Philly (he'll get some more money compensation from texas, as if 16m isn't enough haha) for Josh Lindblom and Lisalverto Bonilla.
