"I think we finish with 56-59 wins."

The Heat will win two more games than they need for the #1 seed in the East. They are just trying to stay healthy right now.

"now twocoach with the excuses? LOL, this guy's as bad as Turnip...    "

I don't need excuses because I (like everyone but Heat Haters) understand that the regualr season is completely unimportant for the Top 4 seeded teams in each conference. The NBA would be a better product if they cut the regular season down to the length it was last year. Too many meaningless games. Players for several teams are just coasting at 80% right now.

I couldn't care less about some random loss by the Heat in the regular season. The grand total of the takeaway from the Bulls game will be "We need to make sure to get after rebounds better". They had the same problem last year heading into the playoffs and seemed to survive it just fine WHEN IT MATTERED.

A league source told the Daily News that the Lakers stars got into a heated exchange following a New Year’s Day loss to the 76ers, and Bryant went for a low blow – referencing and agreeing with Shaquille O’Neal’s criticisms of Howard being soft.

Howard was restrained from going at his teammate, according to the source, and there have been rumblings from the center’s camp that he’s been unhappy with Bryant since earlier in the season.

Three days after the altercation, following a disheartening loss to the Clippers, Howard complained about the lack of chemistry on the Lakers. It was a comment seemingly directed at Bryant, who is averaging a league-high 22 shots despite playing with three potential Hall of Famers.

The Mike D’Antoni-coached Lakers fell to 15-18 after losing at home to the Denver Nuggets, 112-105, Sunday night despite Howard’s 26 rebounds. Bryant led L.A. with 29 points but took 26 shots.

“Look at the difference between our team and (the Clippers),” Howard said. “They just play together. They share the ball. Everybody’s excited when something happens.”

Howard again hinted at the disconnect on Saturday. There were always concerns over whether Bryant, a no-nonsense veteran, and Howard, a playful man-child, could co-exist.

oward, a pending free agent, has not committed to Los Angeles beyond this season.

If the Lakers decide Howard won’t re-sign, they risk losing him for nothing and it becomes more likely they trade the six-time All-Star.

The Nets spent all of last year trying to acquire Howard, who admitted in October that Brooklyn was his preferred destination.

The Nets are in a position to put together an enticing package if they know Howard would sign long-term to play with Deron Williams. The Nets’ previous proposals to the Magic centered around Brook Lopez, who is having a breakthrough season coming off foot surgery.

Lopez can’t be traded until Jan. 15 because he signed a four-year, $61 million deal in the summer. He is averaging 18.9 points and 7.4 rebounds, while Howard – who is coming off back surgery – is on pace for his worst statistical campaign (17.4 points, 12.0 rebounds) since his second season.

Prior to the trade that sent Howard to Los Angeles, Bryant reportedly told Howard he’d be the third offensive option if traded to the Lakers. Following the New Year’s Day loss to the 76ers, Bryant was ticked off at Howard and ticked off in front of the media.

“Cause we’re old as s---,” the 34-year-old told reporters, explaining the Lakers’ struggles. “What do you want? We just got to figure out how to play when we don’t have that energy.”

punchline, don't believe everything you read, and consider your sources.

That "story" was filed by Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News and has since been refuted by Lakers beat reporter Ramona Shelburne of ESPN Los Angeles, who is quickly becoming one of the best beat writers in the business, who had this to say about it;
Two Lakers sources have adamantly shot down the reported Dwight/Kobe incident. One said, "it's simply not true."

Lakers, and Coach Mike D'Antoni, are flunking chemistry

By Ben Bolch, Los Angeles Times

D'Antoni appears to be tone deaf as his players openly exchange angry glances and gestures. The Lakers players appear to care more about playing the blame game than being there for each other.

I wander if Ben Bolch is any good?  or he's just a hater - as stupid as it sounds.

Bosh resorts to counting his own rebounds

Fox Sports Florida:

Much-maligned Heat center Chris Bosh is vowing to count caroms while he plays. Apparently, that will make him more cognizant of whether he is staving off critics. "I'm just counting them so everybody will get off my back," said Bosh.

This season he's been even worse. He's averaging 7.6, on pace to be the lowest since he pulled down 7.4 a game as a Toronto rookie in 2003-04. Bosh  concluded a week that featured him averaging 4.3 boards in three games and being outrebounded 29-4 last Monday by Orlando center Nikola Vucevic.

Says one of the founding fathers of this thread which is used to attempt to do the very same thing. Too funny.

"I am a Laker fan and no matter what team you cheer for, we're better than you, because we've won more titles than you."

It's called built-in ego buffer. When the current Laker season goes down the toilet (currently circling the bowl), Laker fans will revert to leaning of decades-old championships, claiming that no matter how much better the other teams are than them THIS year, they'll never catch up to them historically.

kinda sad, really...

That's because these Heat losses are getting so boring and repetitive - doinking around at full health...."to stay heathy"...yeah, that makes a lot of sense!

Still in first place in the EC, pretty sure they didn't shoot for 73 wins this season or even 11 wins in January.

I have never posted on this thread, but I guess I will now.  I actually dislike the Heat, but Im a Celtic fan and that is to be expected.  What I can't stand about Heat fans is this, it is real simple.
Many of you are BANDWAGON fans.  For example some of you are Dallas Cowboy fans, Detroit Red Wing fans, and San Fransico Giants fans and you live in Arizona.  This is classic bandwagon.  Some of you are even Chicago Blackhawks fans, Chicago Bears fans, and Chicago Cubs fans, then all the sudden your Heat fans too.  That is a bandwagon fan.
The Heat came into existence in 1988, that is around 25 years ago.  The Heat were an abyssmal team for their first 4 years of existence.  So that tells me that anyone who is over 25 and doen't live in Miami or even Florida, makes you a bandwagon fan.  Most of you have never heard of Rony Siekly or Sherman Douglas or Rory Sparrow.
If you're over 25, and don't live in Miami or Florida, then you must have had a favorite team before the Heat.  Or at 35 did you just decide to become a fan of the NBA.  If this is true then you have no idea who Larry Bird is, or Micheal Jordan, or Magic  Johnson.

Hondo 8 Rings,

So any Boston fans outside of MA is bandwagon?   Chicago fans outside of IL?  LAL outsides of CA? etc...   According to you, then all fans should be with the oldest, winningest teams then?

There are many other reasons to be a fan, to reduce fanbase to just location and age is just absurd

Let me cut and paste from Realdeal's post.   There is a large group of Heat fan base as #4.   It's one of the good reasons.

Let me point out the groups that compromise Most of the Heat fan base:

1- Ex fans of teams who had never won a title and were sick of the Lakers and Celtics and Spurs winning title year after year so they decided to join the heat fanbase just to try to be part of the latest new thing in the NBA, the big 2.5 merge. And keep denying to themselves that they never followed another team...exhibit A..turnip.little pizza man

2- New and clueless NBA fans who have no loyalty to any franchise  and pick a team based on Jersey sales and TV commercials.  exhibit A peedmyshorts

3- Miami heat ex fans who had moved on and given up on their franchise and left them for dead but who dediced to come back and claim they never left when the big 2.5 were formed. exhibit A..too many to name.

Be honest and dont try to tell us you guys dont fit in one of those groups.
I'd like to add a 4th group that may be actually larger than some realize.  There are many fans, who are not actually "fans" of the Heat, but root for LeBron (and the Heat) because they feel like he went through some of the most ridiculous critism that they had seen in a long time.  And by always trying to defend against such ridiculous claims, those people, by nature, found themselves rooting for a player and a team that they previously had little interest in at all.  So in the end, it was the accusations that came from the "haters" that caused a lot of the LeBron and Heat "fanbase" to increase.

Obviously, I fall into this 4th group.

Actually you read my post wrong, you can live in Florida and be a Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Boston Bruins, and Boston Celtics fan.  That is fine.
One can still cheer for Lebron, but to make the Heat your team, because of one player, makes you a bandwagon fan.  Were you a Clevland Cavalier fan?  I would consider you a Bandwagon fan.  I loved Jon Stockton and Jeff Hornacek as players, but never was I a Utah Jazz fan.

King Clown turnip makes those 2 other clowns look like elite Mensa members.

99.9 % of all these "heat fans" define BANDWAGON FRONT RUNNER FANS...

You can't be a big fan if you ever switch your allegiances, NO MATTER WHAT.

I read somewhere that you can root for whoever you want— but that decision is made at around 10 years old or so or maybe just a little older, but you must stick with that team. whihc is something these morons havent done.

You're contradicting yourself here:

For example some of you are Dallas Cowboy fans, Detroit Red Wing fans, and San Fransico Giants fans and you live in Arizona.  This is classic bandwagon.  Some of you are even Chicago Blackhawks fans, Chicago Bears fans, and Chicago Cubs fans, then all the sudden your Heat fans too.  That is a bandwagon fan.
So you have to stay with one team forever?   You can't add teams to your book?

The Heat came into existence in 1988, that is around 25 years ago.  The Heat were an abyssmal team for their first 4 years of existence.  So that tells me that anyone who is over 25 and doen't live in Miami or even Florida, makes you a bandwagon fan.
So you can't be outside of Miami and be a Heat fan?

Actually you read my post wrong, you can live in Florida and be a Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Boston Bruins, and Boston Celtics fan.  That is fine.
Look at the previous quote, do you see a double standard here?

But you can't live in Boston and be a Miami Heat's fan?

One can still cheer for Lebron, but to make the Heat your team, because of one player, makes you a bandwagon fan.  Were you a Clevland Cavalier fan?  I would consider you a Bandwagon fan.  I loved Jon Stockton and Jeff Hornacek as players, but never was I a Utah Jazz fan.
So, if you like M. Jordan as a (NC) college player, but he went to Chicago, you'll cheer for him as a player only?   You'd rather him get 40 points, 12 rb, 12 as everynight but his team to lose every game?

Translate that player as one of your sons (assuming you have one), really?   You can't be his team's fan?
