C'mon fellas, this team played their hearts out and had it not been for Anquan Boldin along with some dropped passes on our part, this game would have been a lot closer. The Hosses have nothing to be ashamed about. They can take a lot from this game and use it for motivation for next year. Keep in mind, they were still in it until late in the game. You know what else bums me out? As quiet as its kept, we might have seen Dwight Freeney for the last time in a Colts' uniform. I hope I'm wrong. He's got a lot of football left in him; I can't imagine him suiting up for anyone else, but I said that about a lot of former Colts, most notably Peyton Manning and Jeff Saturday.

Give the Ravens credit where it's due. This game was destined to be a Raven's victory once Ray Lewis indicated that he was going to retire. We all knew that they were going to be emotionally charged, but when Arians was sidelined, I knew that his absence was going to be felt. And while we're giving credit, you have to acknowledge Caldwell's work with Flacco and his play calling. He might not be a good head coach, but he appears to be a legitimate and worthy OC. Good job Coach!

Lastly, we need to address our offensive line woes and get some more playmakers on defense, but let's chalk this one up for experience and let's root for a certain number 18. I would love nothing better for him to get another ring and embarass the Patriots in the process.....Can we do that CCB? LOL!!

We still have some football to enjoy, so the bar is still open. The next big event for us will be the Combine. But first, let's get ready for a Super Bowl.

Like my barkeeper would say: GO COLTS!  Cool

proud of the guys today, in a season that was destined to be a learning year you gave us all thrills, and excitement of what is to come. ill tell ya what we ran the ball effectivly in the 1st half. i like ballard. he runs hard. although he seemed to get winded in the no huddle. but he had most of the touches. a couple of drops cost us. and i didnt like the play calling in Ravens territory but the ravens D was all over us. i thought avery's ball was a catch. i thought reggies play in the 1st was a catch worthy of a replay. but celavie. like i say you gotta score td's to win in the playoffs....lets go PEYTON...

RB, I thought the same thing! Perhaps they were worried that Davis' weight or lack thereof would have been used against him. But it would have been wise to at least try it. On the Boldin TD, Vaughn did everything he could; in fact I thought he was going to get flagged for interference. He had his arm on the front of Anquan, trying to deflect the pass, but didn't turn around to find the ball. Oh well.....Anybody want to guess what our first two picks (1 & 3)will be in the 2013 NFL draft?

What's that you say? A shutdown CB and an offensive lineman.......NO KIDDING!And while we're at it, let's make another trip to the Great White North to get some more players. If Jerrell Freeman is any indication of how they groom future stars for the NFL,, I say we set out immediately!!

I think Freeney is gone, too. There was a time when Dwight was the most disruptive defender in football, IMHO, and I will always remember him for that. But this year, he was a total non-factor. He had 10 tackles all season! 10!!! Granted 5 of those were sacks, but when your starting DE is averaging less than 1 tackle per game, it's not hard to see why we were having so much trouble with the run. Dwight knew it, too. I don't think he ever bought into the new "LB" position. He seemed like he was going to just keep rushing the QB and that was that. I think he will end up playing for a title contender next season, maybe someone like the Patriots or Broncos, where he will only be asked to come in on 3rd and long and try for the sack. I definitely don't see him in Indy next year. That ought to free up another $18M for Grigson to build with. Best of luck, Dwight. We'll miss the player you were!

The game yesterday showed so many holes, 1st off the worst o-line in the league, they suxed!! Big holes in defense!! NO go to receiver!! Flacco heaved up a ton of balls with no skill or precision and A.Balwin just stepped up huge and caught them, <span style="color: #0066cc;"> Colts need a top receiver BAD!! The little receivers they have are good just NOT great! Oh to have <span style="color: #0066cc;"> Calvin Johnson, is there any way besides trading A.Luck to <span style="color: #0066cc;"> Lions to get him????? Just kidding trading Luck of course :}LOL

NOT going to happen, would be awesome though! Ya I know he would come with a huge contract hit and again not going to happen, but with Colts at least he would be in the playoffs every year. SO my question? What big time receiver and other players could the Colts get in FA and Draft????? I prefer ready to play rookies in draft with little cap hit due to contract limits. Receiver has to be all the time healthy, big & tall and fast!!!!!<OH yea has to have great hands, tired of receivers not catching easy passes!!!!!

I read it over and over Kappa and maybe it went over my head, but are you referring I hate Peyton and didn't want him back because of that, so I'll defend that since I'm of course guessing what your referring, Loved the success over the years, but I live in reality and after considering all the factors and putting emotion out the window, he had 4 neck surgeries and I read a report from a local guy associated with the team that P.Manning had numbness daily in his entire arm from shoulder to finger tips, I tried to find it but was deleted I assume and been almost a year so of course I forgot his name and so right there was the beginning, then factor in age and then the gutting of almost the entire team and question on returning vets and the turmoil in the front office. And a BIG plus is so much money to spend on players with the new limits on money on their picking position, so instead of 26/28 mil a year for a QB we get a franchise QB for 4-5 years for 23 million, I'll take that too, more mula for more make a difference players...

Colts have 10 to 15 years with a promising A.Luck and I want that than maybe 3 or 4 years...

A young P.Manning in like 2001 era might have carried the team, but not 12 years in the tooth later, just wasn't going to happen, he had to go to an already previous year playoff team to do that as seen, Irsay did the right thing letting him go unconditionally. Don't feel sorry for Peyton because I don't, I feel sorry for kids with cancer not a millionaire athlete with a non life threatening boo boo. people with such injuries still end up with non issue long lives. So all that said and I tried to explain, but some will find fault with something, Spelling? Punctuation? They think this, They think that, just my opinion so take it or leave it it's up to you all.

Now I root for Peyton since Colts are out and P.Manning to win a SB with a better team than the Colts at the time couldn't have put together... :}

Ok back to the "What Colts need" and of course It's past Christmas, but what is all Colts fans belated Christmas player/players wish list?????

Sigh........I give you one sentence, CCB, and I wind up with you giving us all the eleven o' clock news! LOL....It's all good. I fully understand your rationale for allowing Peyton to leave. I didn't say I had to like it, and yes, I still think it was done poorly, BUT YOU'VE MADE YOUR POINT. Forgetabout punctuality, we come here to share opinions about all things Colts. If I want an Op/Ed, I'll read the Washington Post. Let's get to the good part, like CCB says:

In order of priority, what should be on the Colts' wish list (Top 5 - Here's mine)

1) Offensive lineman / Cornerback - Best of who's left

2) Sub 4.4 Wideout w/ height (think Pierre Garcon with better hands)

3) Cornerback / Offensive lineman - Best of who's left

4) Cornerback

5) Offensive lineman

6) Defensive Tackle

7) Offensive lineman

If we go with an OL 1st, then CB for a third pick or vice versa.  Of course, should the Colts and Dwight Freeney part ways (and I hope we can find a way to keep him - for less money), we might as well use the savings and go after Jake Long. Hmmmmmmmm!

I wind up with you giving us all the eleven o' clock news! LOL

I know, sorry, but unlike you guys I spend most of my time in the NFL general section and if you don't explain everything they always like to point out stuff you don't include so I try to include everything I can think of from force of habit and most of the time especially Skins fans it goes in both eyes and out the back of the head. I told them after Skins implemented the college Baylor/Nevada offense that it wouldn't turn out good for Robert and I was right and they fought and fought and now they want a more traditional pocket style system, they didn't learn till the end...

I didn't see anything wrong with how he was let go, Irsay could have pulled a "Farve" you know, so that was classy with an unconditional release and will hopefully get P.Manning to retire a Colts on a 1 day contract... We'll see... If he wins a SB with Denver this year he might be satisfied with proving people wrong and 1 more ring and just give it up and retire, again we'll see. The drama is on going :}

Go Colts!!!!!

My priority is o-line and I mentioned J.Long on another forum and got shot down as being too injured and I read that he might have to be paid 15.6 mil a year, and he isn't worth that...

Not based on draft, just top priorities in FA and draft, I trust Mr. Grigson, but reserve the right to add my thoughts till the start of next season...

1. Offensive linemen--LG,C,RG,RT the guys on the line now in those positions are only back up material, they won't last a whole season...
2. Shut down corner--Not sure who right now, too early to even speculate.
3. Free Safety--Not sure who right now, too early to even speculate.
4. Awesome receiver--Wish for Calvin Johnson ;}
5. Strong Safety--Not sure who right now, too early to even speculate.
6. Keep Mathis as an OLB and get another one to replace Freeney--Not sure who right now, too early to even speculate.
7. I like Jerrod Allen's motor always running and he's all over the field on the RS and LS and that is hard to account for all the time, either him or another like him.
8. More to be added and or changed later, not set in stone, just end of season thinking :}

Ps. Again Go Colts!!!!!

It's a good read; everything about this guy screams Indianapolis!

CCB, we're close on a lot of picks, but I don't think we should spend too much time on safeties. I think we're okay in that area. The other spots are glaring weaknesses.

i think the secondary would be better if we could apply better pressure, freeney was a big disappointment this year. not only against the run but when rushing and using the spin move he seemed to be going to the ground more often. i think he was mentally not there this year due to him not liking and adjusting to the 3-4. although he seemed to line-up on the ball outside most times. when healthy powers is a good corner imo. but can we keep him on the field. if he is back he and davis at the corner are viable.

im hoping chapman comes back in a big way, completely healed he could fill a big void in the middle. there's lots of cash to spend WISELY, pls dont go after big name primadonna's.

kappa we need O&D Line players that have that mean streak. but all these guys played tough all year. there is no 1 on this team that got beat due to lack of effort. that in itself is a victory. but keep moving foward, there's a bright light ahead.

i will root for peyton to win the SB this year. would we still be playing if he was in the blue's, maybe. i highly opposed cutting him, but i will admit this franchise is in great shape for the future, rather than the next 3 years.

wow great work ccb, there are some guys with size there. yes i also heard that the Colts got that pick back. question is do they keep the #1 or trade it to pick up a 2 and maybe 3 or 4th rd er. i guess it depends who's on the board. coming off last years draft, i will say i have the utmost confidence in the draft.

FYI....the talk on 660wfan radio is that arians will follow tedesco to san diego. i hope not, i would like to see arians calling plays for a couple more years. he did a great job with all the rookies. that experience is priceless.

I agree with RB; great post CCB. Regarding Arians, my hope is that he stays, but I think one of the main reasons (along with his superior knowledge of player personnel - according to reports, he had compiled a mental assessment of most of the current starters on the Bolts) why they hired Tedesco was the possibility of having Arians coming aboard and continuing and ongoing relationship that functions well. Barring unforeseen circumstances, Arians is a goner. The question now becomes who do the Colts have in mind to replace him as OC? The foregone conclusion for most would be Clyde Christensen, but I'd prefer someone else.

i'd rather not see clyde as OC. norv would be good he did wonders with the Cowboys and his input in SD was invaluble. he's just not a good HC. i want a more traditional offense. more like what we ran with edge. so i hope we move in that direction. selfishly id prefer to keep arians, but you have to strike when the iron is hot. and his time is now. i like what ballard did behind a patchwork OL the last 6 weeks. he runs fearlessly. addai used to run that way until the injury bug had him tiptoeing the last 3 years.

The Cincinnati Bengals saved $8.5 million of cap room in 2012 and made the playoffs for the second consecutive year. They have $55.1 million of room. But over half their roster will be in free agency also...

The Cleveland Browns saved $14.3 million of room in 2012 and now have $48.9 million.

After being tight against the cap in 2012, the Indianapolis Colts now have $46 million of room. By league rules Colts have to spend at least $36 million minimum of the $46 million...

If either of these teams have similar interests in FA player/players then the Colts might be caught in bidding war/wars, lets hope not...

Colts are better off getting the o-line from the draft and then the players are stuck in the contract cost on where they are selected in the draft which is quite less than an older player in free agency, and after the draft then go after players in FA that are cost effective, Colts need to resign their current FA that they want to keep.

Mentioned tonight during the GB v Niners game the Niners have 3 1st round picks on there o-line and are just about the best, we need that for the Colts, A.Costanzo is the best on the line all year and healthy add 4 more that are better and will all equal out with all 5, the starters this year are only good for backup since a whole year being healthy is not possible and then in the 2014 draft then work on the D and get some fresh defensive players. I'm all excited about the off season :} Hurry up draft day :}

P.Macfee (K) FA Need Kept-is a priority.

D.Avery (WR) FA Need Kept.

D.Butler (DB) FA Need Kept.

A.Collie (WR) FA Gone-Be unsigned, replaced by Griff Whalen.

A.J.Edds (LB) RFA Maybe Kept.

M.Fokou (LB) FA Need Kept.

D.Freeney (DL) FA Gone-He will be unsigned.

J.Gordy (DB) ERFA If Kept. Three Yr. Vet. Minimum.

T.Hills (G) FA Maybe Kept.

W.Justice (T) FA Need Kept.

A.Johnson (DL) FA Need Kept.

D.Karim (RB) ERFA If Kept. Three Yr. Vet. Minimum.

J.Linkenbach (T) RFA Need Kept.

F.Moala (DL) FA Need Kept.

M.Moore (RB) FA Maybe kept after the fumble on the goal line?????

S.Olsen (LB) RFA Maybe Kept.

J.Powers (DB) FA depends on draft and FA.

J.Reitz (G) ERFA If Kept. Three Yr. Vet. Minimum.

D.Stanton (QB) FA Gone, have Mr. Irrelevant C.Harnish if still on practice squad.

M.Tevaseu (DL) ERFA If Kept. Three Yr. Vet. Minimum.

J.Westerman (LB) FA Gone.

C.Vaughn (DB) RFA Need Kept.
^
^
We'll see how it all plays out. Grigson has a big job ahead of him, lets see if he is a genius again, I have faith :}

I didn't know this, so thought I would share..

An Exclusive-Rights Free Agent (ERFA) is an NFL player who is not under contract, but has only two years of NFL experience. If his former club makes him an offer at the three year veteran minimum salary, then that's it, he has to take it or leave the NFL. These guys have no right to negotiate with other teams. They are "free" only in the sense that they're free to quit.

Well sir, that puppy is peeing like a racehorse on Lasix. And out of all of the games played this weekend, this was the one that was an overwhelming blowout. Welcome to the post-season spectator section with the rest of us.

Since we're both out of it, 514, good luck in the off-season. From the looks of things, Schaub still has growing to do. Other than that, a few tweaks here and there and you'll be a force to be reckoned with again next season. Barring injury, we should be right there too.

i feel bad for manning, dejavu...like the game vs the Jets drive down kick the 3 under a minute left and the Colts give up a 50yd ko return to cromartie then lose on a 3. then a 70yd td pass with 30+ seconds left. that game never should have gone to OT.

SB against the Saints under a minute left the colts from inside the 10 yd line run the ball into the line 3 times punt and give the saints time to kick a FG to end the half. on saturday 3rd - 8 from midfield and fox takes the ball out of his hands. then again with 31 seconds left in regulation and 2 time outs....

there is no excuse for the pass in OT. but you cant take the ball out of his hands at the end of the game. just a week before luck got the colts in posistion for a FG with 22 seconds left against the same team. you cant play not to lose in this league. especially when you play at full throttle for 17 weeks prior.

 and 514 with all that talent on O, they have to be better. again i blame the HC. kubiak has underachieved with this team for years.

enogh on everyone else, colts time..ccb rietz had concucsion issues i think right, will be interesting to see how that fares. karim added a weapon the team hasnt had in years. i'd like to see him in the preseason at RB, i think he'd be good to spell ballard. no more moore. moore was an arians guy from pitt. im not to confident in carter as a back up.

i like the lb fioko ( dont know his name) but he came across the entire field passing everyone to catch the kid from the Ravens. you cant teach speed

so much to talk about, i cant for the draft

i think the ravens match up well against the pats, im not a big fan of mike smith in atlanta. but i also think GB's D is overrated. had Joe Webb not been the QB for minny, i thought the Vikings win that game.

so im goin raven/falcons for the whole enchilada.....

I trust Grigson right now, he's a 10X better evaluator than C.Polian just in his 1st year with the Colts.

J.Reitz 2 concussions late this year he might be a "If Kept" on all the ERFA I just went the safe route and did the If Kept since there iffy players by in large...

I can understand the ERFA tag since if a team takes a chance on a un-drafted FA why if he works out and after they spend the time and effort to bring him along why should they loose him after 2 years if the player is keep-able either you resign or you quit the team and out of the league for a year...

A.Collie had concussion problems all his career and he's in the position to get them and often, not so much for o-linemen like Reitz and with the now increasing concussion scare they are being more in the be safe than sorry modes for the foreseeable future. So A.Collie is pretty much done and be forced to retire since no other team will want to take a chance. And it's such a shame too, he had that rare talent :{

Yea the M.Moore I listed as a "maybe kept after the goal line fumble?????" He did make that out of the backfield down the sideline catch, is that enough to be 'Kept" hummmmm????? We'll see...

I think Carter is a BIG question too, if let go they wouldn't be picked up so they could possible come back and how about letting Deji Karim have a shot, he's another ERFA so it's either resign or say bye bye so we know if offered he'll resign and cheaply too...

So many Ifs in the off season, going to be interesting :}

Okay, so Denver's former OC becomes San Diego's new HC. I was really worried that BA would follow Telesco to Cali. Either he's made up his mind on another HC position or he's consulted his family and decided that he's perfectly content to stay with Pagano. My guess is that Grigson will renegotate Arians' contract to be commensurate with newly appointed head coaches and give BA the right of first refusal to the position should Pagano step down because of health reasons. That sounds like a best case scenario - not wishing anything negative on Coach Pags. In fact I hope he's HC for a long time to come.

GO Colts!  Cool

p.s. - I'll bet Manning exerted his influence and "recommended" Mike McCoy for the HC position in San Diego. This opens up the door for who to become Denver's next OC?
