proud of the guys today, in a season that was destined to be a learning year you gave us all thrills, and excitement of what is to come. ill tell ya what we ran the ball effectivly in the 1st half. i like ballard. he runs hard. although he seemed to get winded in the no huddle. but he had most of the touches. a couple of drops cost us. and i didnt like the play calling in Ravens territory but the ravens D was all over us. i thought avery's ball was a catch. i thought reggies play in the 1st was a catch worthy of a replay. but celavie. like i say you gotta score td's to win in the playoffs....lets go PEYTON...

oh and 1 more thing vaughn was getting put out of position all game against boldin. i was suprised they stuck with that matchup so long. i mean he was replaced late with byrd but i thought davis should have been on him. davis did a good job on Andre Johnson last week. i thoughtbhe was the better match up...thats all i got

RB, I thought the same thing! Perhaps they were worried that Davis' weight or lack thereof would have been used against him. But it would have been wise to at least try it. On the Boldin TD, Vaughn did everything he could; in fact I thought he was going to get flagged for interference. He had his arm on the front of Anquan, trying to deflect the pass, but didn't turn around to find the ball. Oh well.....Anybody want to guess what our first two picks (1 & 3)will be in the 2013 NFL draft? What's that you say? A shutdown CB and an offensive lineman.......NO KIDDING!And while we're at it, let's make another trip to the Great White North to get some more players. If Jerrell Freeman is any indication of how they groom future stars for the NFL,, I say we set out immediately!! |

I think Freeney is gone, too. There was a time when Dwight was the most disruptive defender in football, IMHO, and I will always remember him for that. But this year, he was a total non-factor. He had 10 tackles all season! 10!!! Granted 5 of those were sacks, but when your starting DE is averaging less than 1 tackle per game, it's not hard to see why we were having so much trouble with the run. Dwight knew it, too. I don't think he ever bought into the new "LB" position. He seemed like he was going to just keep rushing the QB and that was that. I think he will end up playing for a title contender next season, maybe someone like the Patriots or Broncos, where he will only be asked to come in on 3rd and long and try for the sack. I definitely don't see him in Indy next year. That ought to free up another $18M for Grigson to build with. Best of luck, Dwight. We'll miss the player you were!

The game yesterday showed so many holes, 1st off the worst o-line in the league, they suxed!! Big holes in defense!! NO go to receiver!! Flacco heaved up a ton of balls with no skill or precision and A.Balwin just stepped up huge and caught them, <span style="color: #0066cc;"> Colts need a top receiver BAD!! The little receivers they have are good just NOT great! Oh to have <span style="color: #0066cc;"> Calvin Johnson, is there any way besides trading A.Luck to <span style="color: #0066cc;"> Lions to get him????? Just kidding trading Luck of course :}LOL Colts have 10 to 15 years with a promising A.Luck and I want that than maybe 3 or 4 years... A young P.Manning in like 2001 era might have carried the team, but not 12 years in the tooth later, just wasn't going to happen, he had to go to an already previous year playoff team to do that as seen, Irsay did the right thing letting him go unconditionally. Don't feel sorry for Peyton because I don't, I feel sorry for kids with cancer not a millionaire athlete with a non life threatening boo boo. people with such injuries still end up with non issue long lives. So all that said and I tried to explain, but some will find fault with something, Spelling? Punctuation? They think this, They think that, just my opinion so take it or leave it it's up to you all. Now I root for Peyton since Colts are out and P.Manning to win a SB with a better team than the Colts at the time couldn't have put together... :} |

Sigh........I give you one sentence, CCB, and I wind up with you giving us all the eleven o' clock news! LOL....It's all good. I fully understand your rationale for allowing Peyton to leave. I didn't say I had to like it, and yes, I still think it was done poorly, BUT YOU'VE MADE YOUR POINT. Forgetabout punctuality, we come here to share opinions about all things Colts. If I want an Op/Ed, I'll read the Washington Post. Let's get to the good part, like CCB says:
In order of priority, what should be on the Colts' wish list (Top 5 - Here's mine) 1) Offensive lineman / Cornerback - Best of who's left 2) Sub 4.4 Wideout w/ height (think Pierre Garcon with better hands) 3) Cornerback / Offensive lineman - Best of who's left 4) Cornerback 5) Offensive lineman 6) Defensive Tackle 7) Offensive lineman If we go with an OL 1st, then CB for a third pick or vice versa. Of course, should the Colts and Dwight Freeney part ways (and I hope we can find a way to keep him - for less money), we might as well use the savings and go after Jake Long. Hmmmmmmmm! |

RB, I turned after 28-0, but Warmack & Jones are definitely legit, but will probably be off the board by the time we pick, but we can always hope can't we?

RB, you're right on the money regarding the 'Bama front line. The article below came out this AM.
Memo to Ryan Grigson: We want this guy: http://www.cbssports.com/collegefoo tball/story/21512904/legacy-of-bama s-jones-reaches-far-beyond-football -field It's a good read; everything about this guy screams Indianapolis! CCB, we're close on a lot of picks, but I don't think we should spend too much time on safeties. I think we're okay in that area. The other spots are glaring weaknesses. GO Colts!! |

i think the secondary would be better if we could apply better pressure, freeney was a big disappointment this year. not only against the run but when rushing and using the spin move he seemed to be going to the ground more often. i think he was mentally not there this year due to him not liking and adjusting to the 3-4. although he seemed to line-up on the ball outside most times. when healthy powers is a good corner imo. but can we keep him on the field. if he is back he and davis at the corner are viable.
im hoping chapman comes back in a big way, completely healed he could fill a big void in the middle. there's lots of cash to spend WISELY, pls dont go after big name primadonna's. kappa we need O&D Line players that have that mean streak. but all these guys played tough all year. there is no 1 on this team that got beat due to lack of effort. that in itself is a victory. but keep moving foward, there's a bright light ahead. i will root for peyton to win the SB this year. would we still be playing if he was in the blue's, maybe. i highly opposed cutting him, but i will admit this franchise is in great shape for the future, rather than the next 3 years. |

wow great work ccb, there are some guys with size there. yes i also heard that the Colts got that pick back. question is do they keep the #1 or trade it to pick up a 2 and maybe 3 or 4th rd er. i guess it depends who's on the board. coming off last years draft, i will say i have the utmost confidence in the draft.
FYI....the talk on 660wfan radio is that arians will follow tedesco to san diego. i hope not, i would like to see arians calling plays for a couple more years. he did a great job with all the rookies. that experience is priceless. |

I agree with RB; great post CCB. Regarding Arians, my hope is that he stays, but I think one of the main reasons (along with his superior knowledge of player personnel - according to reports, he had compiled a mental assessment of most of the current starters on the Bolts) why they hired Tedesco was the possibility of having Arians coming aboard and continuing and ongoing relationship that functions well. Barring unforeseen circumstances, Arians is a goner. The question now becomes who do the Colts have in mind to replace him as OC? The foregone conclusion for most would be Clyde Christensen, but I'd prefer someone else. |

Phil, a list is good. It means that they haven't automatically decided to give the job to Christensen.
I hope the list is long. Oh, and while we're at it, Houston514, now would be a really good time this weekend for your beloved Texans to perform like they "won the AFC South".....if you know what I mean! You want to see how hard it is to get to the Super Bowl? First things first; let's see if you can win on the road in Foxborough against a team that previously beat you by 4 TDs. Will you stomp with the big dawgs or piddle like a puppy? We'll know on Sunday night......No pressure! GO Colts!

i'd rather not see clyde as OC. norv would be good he did wonders with the Cowboys and his input in SD was invaluble. he's just not a good HC. i want a more traditional offense. more like what we ran with edge. so i hope we move in that direction. selfishly id prefer to keep arians, but you have to strike when the iron is hot. and his time is now. i like what ballard did behind a patchwork OL the last 6 weeks. he runs fearlessly. addai used to run that way until the injury bug had him tiptoeing the last 3 years.

Good post, RB, and all true. If Arians gets the nod, and I don't see any reason why he wouldn't, I wish him all the best. His story hopefully has a happy ending. Anybody watching the Broncos & Ravens? That last Denver drive, culminating in a TD to Moreno, was vintage Peyton Manning. I LOVE the way the man dissects a defense. |

The Cincinnati Bengals saved $8.5 million of cap room in 2012 and made the playoffs for the second consecutive year. They have $55.1 million of room. But over half their roster will be in free agency also... The Cleveland Browns saved $14.3 million of room in 2012 and now have $48.9 million. After being tight against the cap in 2012, the Indianapolis Colts now have $46 million of room. By league rules Colts have to spend at least $36 million minimum of the $46 million... If either of these teams have similar interests in FA player/players then the Colts might be caught in bidding war/wars, lets hope not... Colts are better off getting the o-line from the draft and then the players are stuck in the contract cost on where they are selected in the draft which is quite less than an older player in free agency, and after the draft then go after players in FA that are cost effective, Colts need to resign their current FA that they want to keep. Mentioned tonight during the GB v Niners game the Niners have 3 1st round picks on there o-line and are just about the best, we need that for the Colts, A.Costanzo is the best on the line all year and healthy add 4 more that are better and will all equal out with all 5, the starters this year are only good for backup since a whole year being healthy is not possible and then in the 2014 draft then work on the D and get some fresh defensive players. I'm all excited about the off season :} Hurry up draft day :} D.Avery (WR) FA Need Kept. D.Butler (DB) FA Need Kept. A.Collie (WR) FA Gone-Be unsigned, replaced by Griff Whalen. A.J.Edds (LB) RFA Maybe Kept. M.Fokou (LB) FA Need Kept. D.Freeney (DL) FA Gone-He will be unsigned. J.Gordy (DB) ERFA If Kept. Three Yr. Vet. Minimum. T.Hills (G) FA Maybe Kept. W.Justice (T) FA Need Kept. A.Johnson (DL) FA Need Kept. D.Karim (RB) ERFA If Kept. Three Yr. Vet. Minimum. J.Linkenbach (T) RFA Need Kept. F.Moala (DL) FA Need Kept. M.Moore (RB) FA Maybe kept after the fumble on the goal line????? S.Olsen (LB) RFA Maybe Kept. J.Powers (DB) FA depends on draft and FA. D.Stanton (QB) FA Gone, have Mr. Irrelevant C.Harnish if still on practice squad. M.Tevaseu (DL) ERFA If Kept. Three Yr. Vet. Minimum. J.Westerman (LB) FA Gone. C.Vaughn (DB) RFA Need Kept. An Exclusive-Rights Free Agent (ERFA) is an NFL player who is not under contract, but has only two years of NFL experience. If his former club makes him an offer at the three year veteran minimum salary, then that's it, he has to take it or leave the NFL. These guys have no right to negotiate with other teams. They are "free" only in the sense that they're free to quit. |

"Will you stomp with the big dawgs or piddle like a puppy? We'll know on Sunday night...."
Well sir, that puppy is peeing like a racehorse on Lasix. And out of all of the games played this weekend, this was the one that was an overwhelming blowout. Welcome to the post-season spectator section with the rest of us. Since we're both out of it, 514, good luck in the off-season. From the looks of things, Schaub still has growing to do. Other than that, a few tweaks here and there and you'll be a force to be reckoned with again next season. Barring injury, we should be right there too. |

i feel bad for manning, dejavu...like the game vs the Jets drive down kick the 3 under a minute left and the Colts give up a 50yd ko return to cromartie then lose on a 3. then a 70yd td pass with 30+ seconds left. that game never should have gone to OT.
SB against the Saints under a minute left the colts from inside the 10 yd line run the ball into the line 3 times punt and give the saints time to kick a FG to end the half. on saturday 3rd - 8 from midfield and fox takes the ball out of his hands. then again with 31 seconds left in regulation and 2 time outs.... there is no excuse for the pass in OT. but you cant take the ball out of his hands at the end of the game. just a week before luck got the colts in posistion for a FG with 22 seconds left against the same team. you cant play not to lose in this league. especially when you play at full throttle for 17 weeks prior. and 514 with all that talent on O, they have to be better. again i blame the HC. kubiak has underachieved with this team for years. enogh on everyone else, colts time..ccb rietz had concucsion issues i think right, will be interesting to see how that fares. karim added a weapon the team hasnt had in years. i'd like to see him in the preseason at RB, i think he'd be good to spell ballard. no more moore. moore was an arians guy from pitt. im not to confident in carter as a back up. i like the lb fioko ( dont know his name) but he came across the entire field passing everyone to catch the kid from the Ravens. you cant teach speed so much to talk about, i cant for the draft i think the ravens match up well against the pats, im not a big fan of mike smith in atlanta. but i also think GB's D is overrated. had Joe Webb not been the QB for minny, i thought the Vikings win that game. so im goin raven/falcons for the whole enchilada..... |

Okay, so Denver's former OC becomes San Diego's new HC. I was really worried that BA would follow Telesco to Cali. Either he's made up his mind on another HC position or he's consulted his family and decided that he's perfectly content to stay with Pagano. My guess is that Grigson will renegotate Arians' contract to be commensurate with newly appointed head coaches and give BA the right of first refusal to the position should Pagano step down because of health reasons. That sounds like a best case scenario - not wishing anything negative on Coach Pags. In fact I hope he's HC for a long time to come.
GO Colts! ![]() p.s. - I'll bet Manning exerted his influence and "recommended" Mike McCoy for the HC position in San Diego. This opens up the door for who to become Denver's next OC? Tom Moore. |
