Here goes... Congrats Alabama. I'm a Norte Dame fan and never really post on the NCAA Football boards. I do read them quite often though. Even though I wasn't part of any discussion on the NATTY, I will eat crow. I really thought that it would be a close game and I gave ND about a 40% chance at winning. The Tide just dominated every aspect of the game. Congrats on a hell of a season.. I will still wear my Norte Dame hat with pride though!!!

ND was VERY overrated coming in.  Case closed.  ND would struggle to reach .500 in SEC play, if they were in the conference.  SEC, collectively, is the best conference, and it is not even close.  Seven in a row... BUT... non- SEC had their chances this year, and choked when the chips were down (Oregon, Kansas St.) Easily the Ducks or Wildcats could have been the recipient of a beating tonight, instead of ND. System is not perfect, but somehow at the end of the day, the best team in the country has won the game for the past 7 years straight.  Wait for those playoffs... We will have an SEC vs. SEC Championship quite often.  It isn't going to get better for the rest...

That is like me saying I am an NFC fan because I am a Saints fan. What is up with the "team SEC"? As a Notre Dame fan I would never cheer for Michigan or USC unless it meant my Irish would get in the NC. How can LSU or Georgia fans cheer for a hated rival??

Onward.. You really can't make that claim since we don't belong to a conference. As a Steelers fan, I will root for an AFC North foe when Pitt is erased from the playoff. Furthermore, I will always root for the AFC team in the playoffs.

What's the alternative, onwardtovictory?  You want LSU fans or Georgia fans to pull for an overrated Team from up north or out west, with its arrogant fans (not saying you are arrogant)?  I read 2,000 posts all season about how great USC is or Oregon is or even ND (since the pairings were announced).  I had to hear all the BS about ND's tough schedule, etc... You want a tough schedule?  Go play 8 SEC games.  That is a tough schedule, and the point that is now validated 7 yrs and running.  That's my reason... So all the morons with their BS can suck it.  Like I said earlier... it was Alabama tonight.  Next year, may be Alabama again.  Could be Georgia, A&M or LSU... But... mark it down- it will probably be another SEC team, as it is the BEST competition and collection of teams in the country.  Not even close, Period!  

Maybe Obama can institute a re-distribution of wealth on southern recruits. In this policy 75% of recruits from the south would have to go to non SEC schools in order to level the playing field.

Here I am. I hate that Bama won. It reminds me that LESS Miles gave the game away and LSU could have been here whipping ND. I wanted both ND and Bama to lose somehow.

I'm an LSU football fan and I'm pissed that Bama won.  LSU has had equal talent since Saban came to Bama and they have 3 titles.  Les Miles owes his players and fans an apology for failing to hold up his end of the bargain.

LSU and Florida both laid eggs in their bowl games.  Not motivated, and both clearly disappointed to be where they were.  LSU has/had more talent than ANY team in the country this year.  12 underclassmen declaring... Watch the 1st rounders spill out... They lost 3 games, 2 in the last minute, because of coaching.  Some other LSU fans may not want to hear it, but LSU choked this year.  LSU was better than Alabama when they played.  LSU out- played Alabama for the whole game, and Les had a mental meltdown at the end.  So, no gilgrissom4, LSU doesn't have to win its bowl game to talk equal talent to Alabama... LSU was better than Alabama this year in talent, but lost due to coaching.  Period.  Anyone like you, who doesn't follow college football intelligently, doesn't see that.  You see Alabama trouncing an average football team on Monday night, and immediately think BAMA is untouchable.  Bama was LUCKY to be in the game, and they played a chump also- ran Team.

Because the SEC has created something that helps all it's institutions thrive. If the teams you play all season long do well OOC in bowl games, it increases the value of the wins you have in-conference. And it's not unique to the SEC, it's just that SEC is at the top of the heap so everyone tries (unsuccessfully) to tear it down. Look at all the Texas (HornsStampede, Demo=D, charlie42, Hook'em) and Texas Tech (dillucinate) and Oklahoma State (MicahTurner) fans that were pulling for OU against Texas A&M like they were Sooners themselves. It's pretty easy to understand.

Really? Didn't ND beat Miami, Wake Forest and Boston College? They also beat Stanford and USC right? How many ACC and PAC-12 Teams beat ND? Oh yes zero..

Oh sorry didn't know Clemson and Florida State went 12-0 during the regular season. Plus the post said they wouldn't go .500 in the ACC. I won't resort to name calling.

It's pathetic to tout your "wins" against almost ALL unranked opponents! ND bragged that they beat Stanford and OK (a team that beat not ONE top 25 opponent) and therefore are deserving of the NCG! It should have been FL (who played the undisputed #1 schedule in CF with 5 top 10 opponents...and several other top 25's with only 1 loss in the regular season to #3 GA on the road in a close game against Bama or Oregon for the real NCG....besides the point, however, ND would have been beaten by almost ANY top 10 team and clearly didn't belong there. Even FL, who pulled a Bama/Utah in the Sugar Bowl and didn't even play kept it within 10 on Louisville's best day...and that was about as highly ranked a team as ND saw ALL season long. I'm sure any of those SEC schools would LOOOOVE to get to take on a handful of weak ACC opponents and Purdue, Navy, etc., play no conference title game and just coast into a NCG all rested and uninjured. The system actually reeks for the SEC, but they are SO good that they can still beat it. What does that say for the rest of us when the playoff goes into effect?
