The best teams...

OK OK you guys,  I knew this would light a fire Tongue out.  Nos might have caught my somewhat tongue in cheek post, but he also gets where I am coming from.  The point being was that this validated the theory that defenses and DCs ARE able to scheme against high powered passing attacks to stop them and make it to the superbowl. They are good defenses, but I know they aren't the top in the league either.  Obviously I know that the Vikings, if they want to be competative, has to be able to obtain a legitimate passing attack to keep other teams honest.  But we don't have to turn into the Packers to get there.  Another reason why I would also like to get a good WR in FA or the draft.  Get a veteran QB for Ponder and to start if need be.  Then go defense for depth or start. We have the O-Line and running attack to drain a defense and clock. We have an OK defense, but need help in areas.

My post was more to say, like I mentioned above.  This league isn't going to be just a pass happy league for the next 10 years, so let's follow suit.  Like some have ALMOST seemed to suggest. We can win with good defensive scheming and a solid run game.  Ravens have that legit passing attack.  And Kap has offered his own dimension, can run like a gazelle on opposing teams BECAUSE he can pass too.

Atleast one former Viking will get their first ring this year.  Randy Moss, or Birk and McKinnie.  The fact that McKinnie has this shot annoys the hell out of me.

I think if you look at it, the teams going both have good balanced attacks as well as decent defenses.

There are always exceptions to the rule. Like in 2000 the Ravens won with a mediocre offense but stellar defense.

Usually you need a good not great passing attack, as well as a good not great running game.

If you can be in the top 15 of all catagories theres a good chance you'll be a SB contender.
