He's mad because losing Boise means the TV deal just got signifiacntly less valuable. Not only that, what he said was just plain wrong. The benefits Boise recieves, all the other schools can also recieve. They are performance based, for the most part. Yes, Boise will gain the most from that because Boise is the MWC feature team. Without Boise, either the MWC or BE lose valuable brand recognition. Boise alone makes the MWC the "best of the rest." That's why he said what he said. He's mad that Navy will no longer have the opportunity to benefit from Boises success.

doesn't hold a candle to the importance of the service academies to college football. It's the 21st century. The service academies hold no real relevence other than tradition. |

You're right Bronco, more people are interested in seeing Boise State play Nevada than they are watching Navy play ND, Army or Air Force. Good call.

It was the only game on. Troy vs North Texas probably would have done well that weekend. |

Good call. No, but a a lot more people would rather see Boise play ND than Army play ND. Don't compare apples to oranges. Nobody wants to see Boise play Nevada... because Nevada ISNT ND. But I'm willing to bet a BSU vs ND game would garner alot more attention and TV viewers than Navy vs ND. |

Lupo, I assume you knew I was being sarcastic, but I googled it and the result was that Boise-Nevada was a 3.9.
Whill, your Boise education is really showing there. How does Air Force's conference affiliation have any correlation to whether or not Navy or the other service academies are more important than Boise to college football? It doesn't, sorry. Smiles, no one is surprised that Boise stayed in the MWC, it was the right move for them. The responses have been due to one of your fellow smurfettes trying to claim that Boise is somehow superior to the service academies - which it isn't. As you pointed out, they have more important things than football at their schools and their players - for the most part - aren't there to go pro. Blame your own kind for any negativity here. |

The service academies football tardition is much, much more superior tahn Boise.......by a 100 miles
The Boise wannabees will do anything to prop up their CFB program, but bashing the service academies takes a lot of cajones, or is it mental illness. |

Navy AD says Boise State "not worth it"January 23, 2013 2:52 pm
Not bashing the service academies and I readily acknowledge the rich history of tradition and winning. But in the here and now, Boise is far superior on the football field and has been for ten plus years now. If you don't agree with that statement, then you are a fool who doesn't know very much about college football.

Does any Boise fan who lives in the Treasure Valley know whether or not the Pop Warner teams (we call it Optimist football) still get to open their season on the Blue? I used to get so fired up for that opening game as a kid. Good memories.

When the WANNABEE CFB Smurfs have been around, what 10 yrs. The the US Naval Academy and West Point CFB programs have been around what 100+ yrs. Hiow long can the Smurfs sustain their "elite" CFB program? I'd say the Smurfs will be lucky to be around ... what another 5 yrs.

Yeah. We'll see.
And God bless the academies for their service to our great nation. And they had some great, national championship type teams in the 40s, 50s, etc., but when was the last time one of them finished ranked in the polls? 20 years ago? 30 years ago? More? |

Hiow long can the Smurfs sustain their "elite" CFB program? I'd say the Smurfs will be lucky to be around ... what another 5 yrs. What a wonderful post! That's almost good enough to post everywhere on campus, including the weight room and in the dorms. Thanks for it olballfan, you have no idea how much you've benefitted things. This is precisely why the Blue turf is here to stay. Indeed, just today, Boise got a commitment from a top Florida and another top California cornerback, who saw the turf and liked it, according to today's local paper. They turned down offers from at least 7 other schools. In the past, Boise was seldom in the running for the better rated players. Now they compete. Our friend forgets than ever since Lyle Smith stepped on campus right after WW II, Boise has won, at every level at which they competed. No other school can boast of a JC National Championship, 1aa Championship, and BCS bowl wins. The overall NC trophy is yet to come, but we are working on it. Keep ranting, oleballfan, such talk is MUSIC to our ears. I love it! I'll say it again, comparing BSU, or any other state university to the service academies is impossible. While they play D-1 football, the types of players they recruit, and the nature of their programs is completely different, as are their fanbases. Army vets. cheer for Army, and so on. They can boast of millions of boosters, all proud veterans and their families. The Army/Navy game is only partially about football. To be honest, I wish football occupied the same role on all campuses as they do at the academies. Everyone, from the fans to the players, understand the true roles of the academies. Football is a much needed diversion as these true heroes prepare for a career as our nation's first line of defense. Who cares if Army hasn't had a winning football team in years? Every one of those kids is an All Star in my book, and a better human being than most of the players elsewhere, including my school. Get a clue, folks, get a clue. |

I don't think the schedule is quite as bad as people perceive it to be, BamaTime. Keep in mind that Boise is a mid-major, therefore they play a mid-major schedule. The thing is that Boise doesn't perform like a mid-major. That's the rub.
I want to see a tougher schedule. We all do. It's just difficult when you consider the conference affiliation and the fact that Boise struggles every year to string 6 home games together. That limits our options in the OOC scheduling game because AQs aren't willing to do home and homes with us. Again, it's not their problem and it's not their responsibility to take care of Boise. I get it. In most seasons the Broncos usually play about 2 and sometimes even 3 ranked teams per season. I will be the first to admit that this year's schedule was pathetic. It was our worst in years by a mile, maybe even our worst ever. ZERO EOY ranked teams played. This website has last year's SOS at 119th out of 124 FBS teams. That sounds about right to me. It was a joke. Army was at 73rd, Navy was at 71, and Air Force was at 117. There's a million different SOS indexes out there. I've always thought CBS's was pretty accurate (IMO). They had us at 59th in 2009 (beat #11 Oregon, beat #6 TCU), 53rd in 2010 (beat #15 Virginia Tech, lost to #11 Nevada, beat #23 Utah), and 71st in 2011 (beat #19 Georgia, lost to #13 TCU). I'm not saying those are great schedules, but they are on par with or even better than some AQ teams from conferences like the Big East, ACC, and even some cases Big 10. Those SOS's are also pretty much better than any non-AQ's out there. Was last year's? No. I would agree that it was dreadful and like you I want to see improvement and some action out the AD Mark Coyle. |

Not to worry, justadouche. Stadium expansion is already underway. Those bleaches are going to be up to around 6,000 in just a few short years here. It's the talk of the town.

I love justafan. I especially love him when I realized that our low level basketball team just took his high level basketball team, LSU, to the woodshed. Such dismissive rants are music, yes, music. Because I know what he is REALLY saying.
Hey, justafan, how does it feel when that miserable team with its small budget is BETTER than yours? How does that taste? Yum, yum, get used to it, scrub. I've said it over and over, folks. If you think that our team is that bad, prove it. Sign up for a game. Or would you rather play North Texas, Towson St., Idaho, and other similar types instead? Now I'm not stupid, I know exactly why you guys do what you do. It's just that you have no clue as to why we do what we do. Trust me, we'd love to play you, right here in our tiny stadium and right there in your big one. Your team is very good, maybe you can beat ours. Then again, maybe you can't. After all, when Idaho can score more points on you than they can on us, one has to wonder. I have to love it, the fat playground bully has no problem calling out the little tough guy, but runs like a little girl when we offer to play him. Good job, justafan, you represent well. Gotta love those insults, especially right after we beat you. Tell you what, when your guys come to that tiny field and get embarrassed, or if your team is good enough to embarrass us, then rant away. Heck, I like your rants just the way they are. Keep it up! |

Boise fans: Can the Smurfs pay an OOC to visit their stadium and pay $1 Million to play the "elite" smurf broncos? If they can, then Georgia State Panthers are waiting for an invite.
