But they're not much compared to your house
Fifty feet high, with barbed wire
Guards on the top, aiming rifles at your lovers

Blue Flame - Joe Jackson

The way you swerve and curve, really wrecks my nerves
And I'm so excited, child [Yeah], woo, woo
The way you push, push let's me know that you're good
You're gonna get your wish] Oh, yeah

Stand in the Fire - Warren Zevon

It's crazy how these things work out, I used to think I had no chance
And I somehow thought you'd slip away
You pulled me through the fear and doubt, gave me all I'm looking for
Everything I needed to stay

Walk Through The Fire - Bad Company

Well you getta little buzz, send for the fuzz,
Guitars getting higher and higher.
The dude in the paint thinks he's gonna faint,
Stoke more coke on the fire.

Anybody see that warehouse fire on the news in Chicago? Deep freeze in midwest turned that building into giant ice house after the fireman were down spraying out the blaze. Cool looking image.

Slip- I think my Wings may need to sign Mr Hockey to a one year contract. Our team is stinking but I see your Flyers off to a wrose start. At least they got in an entertaining donnybrook with the Devils recently, lol.

Considering your audience, Clean, I'm going to guess WZ?

Or maybe Gram Parsons.

Thanks Rhino.  I strongly associate the two together, asI "discovered" them at around the same time.  Also, they can both turn a phrase with wit and intelligence.

I just looked it up Clean, Happy Birthday WZ.

I had a song I wanted to post, and went back to make sure it hadn't been used yet, and in the proccess forgot the song.  Damn!

I see you in the streets, I begin to swoon
I love to see you dress before the mirror
Won’t you let me in your room one time ’fore I finally disappear?

Mott The Hoople off The Hoople album 1974

Def Leppard I'm sure were highly influenced by Mott The Hoople and did cover their song.

"Disco Inferno"  by The Trammps

I remember the day Ted Bundy was executed by by Ol' Smoky, the electric chair at Florida State Prison in Starke; a radio station in Jacksonville played this song on continuous loop for about 3 hours--burn, baby, burn!

Battle of Evermore - Led Zeppelin

A much better song than that other well known ballad from the same album, IMO.

As a bonus,I didn't have to google either Clean's or Packerz' lyrics.

I'll stick with my last lyrics.

FIRE BURNING - THE AVERAGE WHITE BAND

BRAVO PACKZ !!!!!!!    I wish I could say I saw THE AVERAGE WHITE BAND coming but that would be completely false. Even sadder, I have probably heard this song several times as 1979 was the heighth of my disco dancing/dating period when I met my first wife. And luckily, 1979 predates most forms of portable video recording so you'll have to take my word that I was actually dacing at some point in time.

NEXT LYRICS:  This song was on a lot of bootlegs of performances by this artist but wasn't released by a record label until this 1979 collection was released. Not exactly a greatest hits collection, this was more a precursor of the "box sets" that have become so popular these days. And like so many of these collections, it is the previously unmined gems like this song rather than the BIG HITS that justify buying this collection for someone like me that has always believed in the concept that albums have pacing and song placement for a reason.

So here I sit to face that same old fireplace
Getting ready for the same old explosion
Going through my mind
And soon enough the time will tell
About the circus in the wishing well
And someone who will buy and sell for me
Someone who will toll my bell
And I continue to burn ............
