Ray is right... Plus you called out Erskine needs a jersey 3 years ago as well. Guess who has a jersey now and is the Caps best all around D-man. Not that it is good but Kurt Angle. I do not think they need to blow the team up but I would trade Green. I think you could still get something for him and I'm not sure you would miss him from the lineup. Bruce B is still in Anaheim right? Trade him for Bobby Ryan. Everyone has their pannies in a wad from Ovechkin... "What's wrong with him mmmmeeehhhh" If you notice the last time Ovechkin had a solid season was when Mike Knuble was playing RW and scored 20-25 goals that year. 8 has never had a decent RW on the other side. Defense doesn't have to respect it. Trade Mike Green for the best true RW you can get. You really do not have a top line to speak of in Washington.

Green has no trade value anymore. Sister wasn't the only person screaming to trade him 3 years ago. Seriously, none. No one would pay him 1/4 of his salary to get run over nightly and give up odd-man rushes.
The Caps finally fixed their defense to the point where it is average, with a good top 1-2 pairing, and 5 decent guys splitting the other 4 spots. Now they have a weakness at forward, with no big guy anywhere to be seen. They had Steckel, Arnott, Knuble, and they keep passing on these guys because GMGM allows no time for chemistry to develop. Getting Ribeiro and Wolski will just make things worse- smaller, finesse-type players that ultimately won't score enough, and won't draw enough penalty calls in the more-aggressive East. Oates looks clueless with this scheme. These are not the NJ Devils and he can't hope that Washington's forwards are any near as responsible in their own zone. |
