It always seemed to me that most Duke players that played in the NBA got injured early & often during their careers. That obviously stopped a lot of them from becoming great pros.

UNC, hands down. MJ. Nuff said.
Few Duke players even make it at all in the NBA, while most all UNC stars do. It's not close, really. |

Another way to look at it is just add up the NBA championship rings.
Billy Cunningham (76ers 1967) Charlie Scott (Celtics 1976) Mitch Kupchak (Bullets 1976, Lakers 1982, 1985) Tommy LaGarde (Supersonics 1979) Bob McAdoo (Lakers 1982, 1985) Bobby Jones (76ers 1983) James Worthy (Lakers 1985, 1987, 1988) Michael Jordan (Bulls 1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998) Scott Williams (Bulls 1991, 1992, 1993) Kenny Smith (Rockets 1994, 1995) Pete Chilcutt (Rockets 1995) Rick Fox (Lakers 2000, 2001, 2002) Rasheed Wallace (Pistons 2004) That's 28 rings. Duke has 3 Jeff Mullins - (1975 Warriors) Danny Ferry - (2003 Spurs) Shane Batteir - (2012 Heat) And the reason Irving will probably end up as the best ever to come out of duke is he barely played half a season...Coach K didn't have enough time to wear him out. |
