Florida 2013 Football Schedule

February 13, 2013 7:34 pm

Toledo
At Miami (Fl)
Tennessee
At Kentucky
Arkansas
At LSU
At Mizzouri
Georgia (COCKTAIL PARTY)
Vandy
At South Carolina
Gorgia Southern (FCS)
Florida State

I think this is a decent schedule. Id like to remove Georgia southern and replace with western kentucky or wyoming or somthing.

Another poster just posted Texas's schedule.  Both are decent schedules I believe.

What do you all think..  I know, we dodge alabama and A&M.. It sucks

Florida 2013 Football Schedule

Okay I will play...Notre Dame's schedule:

Temple
Michigan
Purdue
Mich St
Oklahoma
Arizona St
USC
Air Force
Navy
Pitt
BYU
Stanford

I think their's is a decent schedule too except for Temple and maybe Purdue. Depends on how good/or not the B10 is. Certainly Oklahoma, Arizona State, Stanford and BYU are pretty good teams. Michigan is supposed to be good as is Mich State but you never know. They didnt live up to the hype last season.

I do have a question for you Gator fan...and btw son is a bigtime Florida fan. Why is it that other SEC teams play other teams outside the state of Florida other than SEC teams and your team does not? Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, Arky, Vandy and even Ole Miss all play other teams. Why doesnt Florida? I asked another Gators fan that question and he said you didnt have to. Well of course you dont have to but why dont you? Hate Alabama for obvious reasons but gotta give Nick Saban credit he gets out there and plays other teams. Granted you play Fla State which is usually tough and maybe Miami...

edwards thanks for your reply.

Honeslty I would love for florida to play a home and home with teams like michigan or stanford and so on.  I guess our AD feels that FSU is enough.  But i have no clue why they dont play away games.,  If it were up to me, they would.

ND's schedule is pretty good as usual.  Wish ND and a SEC teams could get some games in to provide more of a measuring stick for ND and the SEC teams.

Me too...I think. Notre Dame has played(regular season) LSU, Tennessee, Vandy and Ole Miss. They have played Florida once in the 90s when Steve Spurrier was HC. I think they played in the SuperDome. ND was clearly not ready for prime time and the vast majority of Irish fans were just hoping for a BCS game. BK and WM both did well in recruiting so hopefully both schools will another good season.

No bashing here but I would love to see FL play up in B1G country.  I understand why they play FL St. and that makes sense.   I feel the same about Bama, LSU and GA too.  This is not a bash on anyones schedule or travel, it would just be fun to see in Columbus.

Miami should be an interesting game... we played them a few years back and they gave us trouble for a half... but they weren't good then.

Will Miami show up this year?  Who knows... but always a dangerous team.

I heard the SEC and B12-2 were negotiating a scheduling deal.  That would be cool.  If that doesn't happen, or even if it does, the B1G would be a good replacement for the MAC teams, although, as they can attest those MAC teams arean't a gimme, as some of the southern independents can rise up and bite you, as well.

IMO, the Florida schedule looks OK to me.  Really don't see the big deal about not leaving the State for OC games.  Not sure who has two tougher OC opponents than the Gators with FSU and Miami. Besides, Florida is a big state and Florida has 4 quality football teams if South Florida is included. Just don't see where a imaginary state line makes any difference at all in the quality of football.  LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, TAM, are all good teams that are geographically closer to the rest of the country that can represent the SEC in other conferences.  As mentioned before, the Florida OC schedule with Miami and FSU is just fine as they are both very good programs.  Last year's Florida schedule was very strong and this year's looks the same.  If Florida starts scheduling any more very strong teams, we would have too many injuries to compete in the SEC championship or a Bowl game.

No disagreement, Rune. The years they play both FSU and Miami, you cannot ask for much more than that. However, what about the years where they only play FSU, and FSU is not so good (like the past 5-7 years up until this season)?

Would it really throw off the entire athletic Dept. to play someone different? Wouldn't even need to be every year, but once every 5 years, or even every decade doesn't seem like it cannot be accomplished.

dtgold; I have no argument with scheduling someone outside the state; just don't see where it is necessary when there is tremendous interest in playing Miami and FSU.  I personally would rather watch a Miami or FSU game than see us play Michigan or Ohio State.  Not that I have anything against those programs...I don't; just feel the interest here in the South is to play the better schools located here.  Those game are rivalry games for sure.   Not sure if another state has that type of OC teams that close.  Also don't think schools from other states really care if they get a Florida team or Alabama, Georgia, TAM, etc. as long as it's an SEC team, that's a good thing and those schools don't have an OC Miami or FSU in their own back yard; we do.  That said, if it is a big deal for the other conferences to see Florida(not sure it is); I'm OK with that as well.....just don't think it's necessary and I really don't see any reason to criticize Florida for their schedule, as it continually is one of the strongest in all of D1 football.

I think it is, in a way unfair to Florida fans, that could, and would, like to travel.  Ive gone to Oregon games at Tennessee, Purdue, Fresno, and might go to Virginia and am planning on going to Michigan State in a few years.  I have other friends that have gone to OK, Michigan, Texas for the LSU game, Houston. taking trips to see your team play is all part of the experience.

I don't want to post OSU's schedule, especially the OOC portion.  It really pretty much sucks.  However, in the interest of fairness, OSU plays...

Buffalo
San Diego State
at California
Florida A&M
Wisconsin
at Northwestern
Iowa
Penn State
at Purdue
at Illinois
Indiana
at Michigan

I think I just threw up a little in my mouth.

I hear ya, Buck. Not much you can do with Cal falling off the face of the Earth from when they scheduled it. I do think they'll be improved, however, and never easy to travel 3 time zones. Buffalo and Fla AM is what it is - garbage.   SDSU is OK, at best. Not a horrible "second game" if your best is a a lot better than Cal.

Hope the same doesn't happen a decade from now and that Oregon remains a title contender.

FL fans would love Columbus. They could stop by Thurman's Cafe and get a Thurmanator and also hit Schmidt's Sausage Haus and ride the Autobahn.  But bring your coats, when teams play OOC games it may only be in the low 70s.

Hey lupee I bet you could direct our players on where to find a good Tatto parlor too. LOL.

My GATORS have played Florida St. for decades as an OOC game, how many top notch teams does OSU play OOC per decade?
About every other year from what I remember OSU plays a quality team, my FLORIDA GATORS always play FSU and occasionally we pick up another good game like with Miami.

Have you EVER played 2 good OOC teams per year? From looking over your schedule for the past few years on I don't remember seeing more than 1.

OSU has played at least one very tough OOC game every year the past decade or so, and will continue to do so into the next decade. They have played home/home series with Texas, USC, Miami, with upcoming games scheduled with Va Tech, Oklahoma, Texas again, TCU and Oregon, as well as competitve but slightly less in stature teams like Cinci and UNC.

Only trouble one could have with the Gators OOC is they often only have a tough game with FSU. They haven't played Miami much more than even OSU did the past decade. And what about when FSU and Miami are down, as they have been the past decade up until last season?

That said, when they play FSU and Miami in the same season, you can't ask for much more. If one or both are down, that isn't Florida's fault.

dt, you said that ohio state has played atleast one very tough occ game every year for the past 10 years or so, i wouldnt say thats 100% correct, yes they have played miami, usc and texas. but i will point this out, last year there big name occ game was cal, a 3-9 team , in other years where there big name ooc teams are in 07 wash ( 4-9), 04 nc state ( 5-6) and 03 wash was 6-6. i dont know how tough these teams are! also you point out the fact that you talk about the gators having played fsu and fsu has been down for the last decade or so, but then you give ohio state credit for playing miami, well that doesnt make alot of sense either, the 2 years that osu played the u, miami was 7-6 and 6-6 those years!

DT so you claim the ButtEyes always play at least 1 good team EVERY year? I'll call Bull Sheit on that.

How about this past year 2012 Dumb Arse? ? ? ? The best OOC game in 2012 was against UCF (C-USA), that's the Univercity of Central Florida everyone. I'm sure everyone knows about their powerhouse program. LOL Then there was Miami (Ohio) (MAC) @ 4-8, then there was Cal (Pac 10) and UAB (C-USA) both @ 3-9.

2011 season OOC vs Toledo 9-4 (Mac), Miami 7-5 (ACC), Akron 1-11 (MAC), Colorado 1-11 (Pac-12).

2010 season OOC vs Ohio 9-4 (MAC), Miami 7-5 (ACC), Marshal 5-7 (C-USA), E. Mich 2-10 (MAC)

2009 season OOC vs Toledo 9-4 (Mac), Navy 8-5 (Ind.) *USC* 7-6 (Pac10), New mexico St. 1-11 (WAC)

2008 season OOG vs Ohio 9-4 (MAC), *USC* 7-6 (Pac 12), Troy 5-7 (Sun Belt), Youngstown 7-4 (1-aa)

2007 season OOC vs Kent St. 11-3 (MAC), Wash. 7-6 (Pac 12), Akron 1-11 (MAC), Yngstwn 7-4 (1-aa)

2006 season OOC vs N. Illinois 12-2 (MAC), Cincinnati 10-3 (Big East) Texas 9-4 (BIG 12), Bowling Green 8-5 (MAC)
Looking at that years OOC schedule one might think you had a decent team, LOL. N.Champ Game 41-14

2005
season OOC vs Texas 9-4 (BIG 12), San Diego 9-4 (MWC), Miami (Ohio) 4-8 (MAC)

So looking over your past 8 seasons I see OSU stepping up and playing 2 games with Texas and 2 with USC, Big flipping deal.

Just like I said "About every other year from what I remember OSU plays a quality team". That is unless you are calling Toledo, Ohio, Kent St and N. Illinois top notch teams. Go crawl back into your cave.

Well this one was out of nowhere. Could be wrong, but I thought I said they SCHEDULED a top team every year. They cannot help it if Cal and Washington fall off the map. Also made mention their future schedules are going away from scheduling 3 garbage teams, instead going with more BCS teams like Cinci, UNC, etc.

In the future, they will be playing Va Tech, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas again, TCU among others. Will they be blamed if in a decade Oregon is struggling?

And I never blamed Florida for scheduling Miami (at least get your facts straight). Problem is most years only FSU is on the OOC schedule for them. When they play both, you cannot ask for much more. Not their fault if both are struggling.
